then all u should have to do is move the shock mountinds down and out so the lever action is reduced

or get new shocks[/QUOTE]

this confuses me how would this help????

get a ruller and put the 0cm (or 0 inch) end on the desk

hold the other end

put one finger on the 10cm mark and push down

then do the same but on the 25cm mark

u will note u generated more force with your finger further out

this is the basics of a lever

your a arm is a lever and it is acting on the shock the further out the shock is the less affect the lever can have on it

so as the wheel is bouncing up and down shock is in a better position to resist the movement

the down side is the more the shock is moved out the rougher the ride gets

oviously u then need to move the top mounting down otherwise u will have no ground clearence

i mean as much as i would like to go back i agree with bighead the angle that the tie rods were at was really bad......basically to solve my problem i need to move the tie rods closer to the steering shaft so that the turnind radius is reduced...... i reall dont feel like redoing everything to go back to my original setup because everthing is workin right know

the shocks are just the cheep ones from bmi NO THAT GOOD

If you make the pitman arm shorter you will have a crazy angle pointing down.

Add another cross bar the the frame and change the angle of your steering shaft. Not saying do it. But just an option if you do not go back.

i might change the angle like u suggested the might work IDK

looking at the guy thst buillt the viper offroad kart his pitman arm is really long and he bolts it on that last hole wonder how he got his to work here is the pic

That would work fine. Just make it for the tie rods are level or close to. They need to push out. Not down and out.

See the tie rods in this pic? It did not turn right for my pitman arm was to short. So it turned with the shaft and did not push the tierod out. I made it about 2" longer so it was even and level with the spindles. Turned fine after I fixed it.

Hey gokart14, I'm wondering something .... take another picture . front on , with no jack holding it up. I wana see it in its natural state. Then Have someone sit on it. I wana see what it looks like with weight on it . front on pic. also strait down picture.
I do agree with everyone, the pitman is to long.

Bighead: Those shocks look just like those that you sent, but they are very popular. I have seen them on alot of karts. they seem to work ok on karts up to 150-200 lbs.
I think those are the same things that toystory put on his.

i raised the tie rods up a little on the pitman arm and the steering worked better (its still pretty dangerous like when i hit bumbs in stuff) but it seemed to work a lot better.... drove it for awhile... but still could use some adjustments

tman the front suspension works great know thx :)

this pic shows what i did

Pay no mind to the sketchy drawing. This may allow for flatter tie rods without a mile long pitman arm.

Weld it maybe. It depends upon where you pull one from. You could probably scrap one for next to nothing.

if it is keyed then u weld a beed along the sfaft and grind it to a key shape

as resox said u can get an entire steering shaft outta a car then u are set

that part u posted is used to joint the steering shaft onto the rack

get from that shaft up to the wheel

okay guys i am about 90% sure i just thought of a way to fix my steering :)
my idea is to take a u joint like this(pic below) and drop it down after it goes through the first bearing holder thing. i would run it down to the ground and weld the pitman arm flat and drill a hole in the metal The reason i couldent just attach the tie rods like that is becuase of a problem i noticed that i will explain when i get the vid posted :) this pic 2 below shows exactly my idea except prabably not as nice as that what do u guys think

here is the pic
i guess i will try to explain sence the vid wont be up foor a while
the reason i would have to do this is becuase icant attach the tie rod ends flat because with the suspension travel they need to be able to move up and down if there flat they are greatly limited
with this setup the tie rods can be straigt up and down wich will lwt thwm pivot completely
the video will make more sense

Paint FTMFW! But anyways, yes that can work, although I'm not positive about the extra bar. It may spin on just one bolt but I get the feeling two will mess things up as well.
