Ok ya'll we are in serch of a tranny. I am seriously considering a peerless 700 (like most do) but I have some questions.

1) Will the tranny handle A 20hp engine?

2) Would it be better to get the stock one or the "race preped" one?

3) Would it be able to get us up to 30mph?

......it looks like this is the only way I can go, so I hope this setup works. :confused:

Well we have got some stuff from a fork lift (steering wheel, mirror, seat, etc) but right now still working on our plan of attack for the drive train. We have got the engine mounted now and looks good. AND just kind of waiting for the money to come. Its hard building custom with a limited budget. BUT we are still moving right along. I haven't forgot about you guys just ran into a slow part of the build!

Excellent! Which transmission did you end up choosing?

http://eccarburetors.com/webstore/ec-700-transmission.html

I got it for 150$, he said it has the same gear ratio as a race-prepped one but it has reverse. He said the beefed up gears they put in the "race prepped" ones don't have a spot to put the reverse gear on!

I will post actual pics of it later!! and maybe ya'll can help me I.D. it cuz it has no markings on it what so ever!:ack2:

Yes; just be aware that the unit is intended as a diagnostic tool. The screen is so small that you most likely won't be able to focus on it when in motion. I have the non tach model on my commercial mower to keep track of the hours. Both models are quite small, and operate by reading the spark pulse in the spark plug wire. The down side is that you will have only a limited reach from your engine; you wrap the end of the sensor wire around the plug wire with electrical tape (no cutting/ splicing needed). The down side is that you can't splice an extension into the wire to allow you to position the box where ever you want. Maybe you can, the lit. that came with mine said not to, and the engine warehouse I bought it from said they had had more than one attempted return for just that reason.

Hope this helps....

:cheers2::thumbsup::popcorn:
