Is it possable to put a 5hp crank in to a 3hp briggs motor from the 1970's era? I want to get more Hp.

Oh god...

The 3 and 5 horse cranks have different journals. Also, the 5HP stroke will be longer. If you REALLY want a 5HP crank, you'll also need a 5HP Briggs rod and a .590 Weisco compression piston (I'm getting this from another site)

Take in mind spinning a stock flywheel (especially aluminum), it will fly apart, resulting in death or serious damage.

That's only at high rpm, but if you do get a 3hp flywheel DO make sure it is cast iron....it will still weigh less than the 5.

Pshh, over 3,600, it's a death trap. And I can't name one engine that I have (out of 4) that has a non-cast iron flywheel.

Billet FTW.

what does FTW mean? And dont even think of spinning ANY stock flywheel over 3600 rpm. Even if a billet ARC or CLEMENTS flywheel is 200 bucks who cares? do you want a chuck of cast iron in your back?

People have successfully spun good maintained Clone flywheels at 6500RPM. People have successfully taken 3/5HP flywheels (Briggs) 8000+. Althought I don't recommend it...
