This pic was with the wheel turned all the way. Yes to much air in tires.
The origianl pitman arm had two holes like you said. I already made some new ones.
Going back now and looking ar pics to see if spindles are on wrong. Good call friend.

Hello friends.
This is what I did tonight. I copy the karts original two hole pitman arm. I put the holes about 1 1/4" apart. During mock up I notice a huge huge difference. My spindles go all the way to the steering stops now. Before that were about 3/4 away. When I got the kart it was set up with the steering stop bolt about 1/4" out. With this new setup and some correct wheel spacers I got the same as it was before. I stopped the tire right before it hits the front bumper.
I was able the move my tie rods back to full adjust both ways. Before I could not. Not sure if this will fix all my problems but it is good start.
I also added another steering support bar. There is another one coming right up the middle. I want this thing to be rock solid. It felt like if you pulled back to hard the shaft would bend and flex from front the rear. Now with 3 bars it is rock solid. To put it simple I mounted my two steering bushing to low and to close to each other. The 3 bars kind of looks cool. And you can see why they are there for it really is needed.
Here is what I did not make my steering rock solid. I did not want to have to weld and repaint. I got lucky and came up with this. Still will look okay I think. Regardless it needed to be done. And I did not want run a bar above the tank. This is the best I could think oif so I went with it. Not sure on the tubbing size though. I may make one the same size as the other two and see what it looks like.
I say I got lucky I had that front bumper on there huh? Perfect mounting tabs all the way around.
I will update how it drivs tomorrow. Untill then.

You could be right. But I think there is a litle more going on then just the live axle.
I hope I got some of it fixed. We will see.

Hello again
Well it is 100% better. I can now turn around with ease. Can eaven do cookies now. Before it just plowed and took the whole street to turn around. Now it turns so good/sharp it will through you off the seat if you now ready for it.
I was doing some cookies on the simi wet pavement. Out of the turn it hooked up and lifted the front end. I had to grab on tight. While doing so it gave it more gas. Yah I was surprised and then thought this thing needs a thumb throttle for saftey. I can see my wife doing the same thing and going out of control with the twist throttle.. Just a thought.
My motor modes are 18lb valve springs, Air filter adapter & filter, fuel pump, A few pipes, Home made throttle link and I removed the governer. Carb and all else is stock. (been checking the plug and have not had to rejet with the crome muffler as of yet. No carb adjustments yet.
Thanks to all for the help on my steering. I just have to allign it to dial it in now.

As remote, do you want wired or wireless? As far as wire, any switch that can ground will do the job, simply wire it off of low oil shutoff on the engine since you've disabled that anyway. We can try and come up with wireless later if you really want to spend some money, kart tracks use a similar 5.5 on some purposes and have a switchboard. Its not cheap but it does the job.

Well I have some young nephews that will want to ride this. I would like to slow it down so how for them. And have a remote wireless kill switch. I seen some on ebay for like 80$
Also today I picked up some new toys and parts for future builds. I got the little yahama 80. And also a good spar motor. I will simi/restore the bike for it is 100% complete. I am thinking about putting the 80 motor is a shopping cart/go kart set up.

A great build (and a lovely model, too - your daughter, I assume). You did a spectacular job on the BSR, and can't wait to see the rest of the trailer build.
Instead of the twist throttle, you could also use a two-finger trigger-type throttle, like an extra brake lever. I got that setup on one of my minibikes, works well. However, nothing wrong with twisting the wrist ....
A suggestion for that other motor? Forget the shopping cart - go straight for the Radio Flyer wagon.

The chassis to me bar stool is a 1978 Yamaha Go Kart chassis. I found another kart that has the same frame that I started with. Bumper and all.
I will post pics later.

Same everything. I remember cutting off all the tabs you see in this pic. This has to be my chassis. I would bet my next paycheck. Same steering and all.
This is the first pic I have. at this point I already cut out the back motor mount bar. But as you can see the tabs are the same as is the steering and bumper also the axle mounts. I even have the original floors. Time to ebay them.
