Hey everyone,

I have a comet 30 series torque converter on an engine that I’m trying to clean. However I don’t know how to get the bolt off the front pulley of the torque converter. Any help? It just spins so I don’t know how to loosen it.

I tried that but it must be over tightened cause it won’t loosen while I hold. Is there a way to stop the crankshaft from spinning?

If you have a cordless impact wrench, use that.
Another method some people do is to stuff a bunch of soft rope through the spark plug hole into the cylinder and use that to stop it from spinning.

Hopefully he has one. :(
They are an incredibly useful tool, though.
I just wouldn't use them on any engine bolts. Too much risk of stripping something out.

Use a pair of vice grips but have a towel of some sort under it so that the metal doesn’t get damaged. Use the grips in the front pully to hold it and a socket wrench on the bolt. I do this and have never had a problem and have never damaged anything.

I use a home made redneck impackt. In other words, I get a good wrench, put it on the bolt and hit it with a hammer. Works every time, if you hit it hard enough. Just don't hit yourself.
