mock up with the wheel horse engine. both engines have the same base mount. Small amount of grinding on the karts mount plate and the engine will bolt right in. Had the kart for two weeks now and I also have somwhat of a plan.40BF7C05-ADD1-41DC-9E12-2C89EF4F73C8.jpeg

Slight cleanup. Need to mill this 1 1/4” crank down to 1” and I can slap it back together and mount a 14t 420 chain clutch and a 60t live axle sprocket. Yes I have those parts. I will need to order chain though. Using small minibike tires to make a racer like my other karts. If I can get the clutch on the engine and it runs when I put it back together I have nearly everything to make it a mostly functional gokart.85A4822F-8F42-463E-8493-6A24151A15D9.jpeg

That crank looks pretty chewed up. How does the bearing surface look on the rod? You may want to get the journal polished and a over sized bearing or rod.

one down one to go. It was a pretty standard job and went smooth enough I guess. If I can do half as good a job drilling the second broken head bolt out I can tap both and get the head bolted down. Then no stops go through the carburetor fix the normal crap that’s wrong with every small engine that sits and see if it will run. Also need a cutting disk to fit it to the karts existing mount. I have all the live axle parts and I’m waiting on front tires.A5E2D9D4-DE1A-427B-A191-B13FFF00EDB5.jpeg

It may be too late
...but, it looks like there is some of the broken bolt still sticking up.

A "trick" in this situation is to set a nut over the broken bolt
...& then, weld inside of the nut

This, welds the (inside) of the nut to the (outside) of the bit of bolt
...essentially welding a head on the bolt that you can "now" use a wrench on, to remove said "bolt"
...& the heat from the welding helps to "break the bolt free" too ;)

Yupp I tried that the bolts are not coming out. I have to be super careful drilling this next one to make sure I don’t bust the cast and leave a gaping hole in the side of the valve gallery. I’m only gonna drill in a little bit then tap threads and call it good.

Would this be considered a base? i have every part except chain and have to cut the old brake linkage and side bars off to fit the tires. Ya I know the axle I bought is slightly to short. Once that’s all cut off I can center the axle throw the sprocket and keys on the axle and set everything in place. A0C6A405-3E23-42BE-B424-18A081A04074.jpeg

Well the whole axle system is in place and locked down. Also the engine plate fits the 8hp tecumseh now. Slapped a coat of spray paint on it. Gonna work on chain and throttle tomorrow and then maybe It’s test ride time??378BA86E-635E-4C5F-8F42-80214AB693A5.jpeg4B32BE7D-24C4-4892-826B-20F77F3B9DA2.jpeg

no no no your not supposed to do it right! your supposed to do it twice! stripped the bearing setscrews taking the axle out and have it ready for when I get the drum. So I ordered new bearings also. It will be done right the second time though! B408795F-227C-495F-8E99-F185048896C1.jpeg

Ohh almost forgot no I havn't given up on the 12hp electric start it’s getting put back together soon. I stumbled across an 8hp tecumseh that was a direct bolt in with the help of a cutting disk. And it is an amazing runner.
