Regarding the future of the two stroke lawn mower, that guy is full of BS. I spoke with another shop, the guy has been my families mower mechanic for years (car too), and he told me you can buy lots of two strokes. In his shop he has Suzuki, Iron Force and victa.

I did speak with masport NZ and Victa NZ, both said the same, that they have no plans of discontinuing the 2 stroke.
Here is what victa said

"Justin,

At this stage we have no plans to discontinue our 2 stroke engine.

Regards,

Carl."

Yeah, but you guys can still go buy stuff like this. The emissions restrictions are getting to the point in the US where the big four motorcycle manufacturers aren't even importing any new 2-stroke dirtbikes, let alone anyone making 2-stroke mowers. Some small snowblowers still come with them, but that is about the biggest piece of 2-stroke equipment you're likely to run into.

What about chainsaws? they would have to be two stroke, immagine how tiring it would be holding a 100cc 4 stroke in your hands for a fiew hours, not to mention the torqe effect when you rev it:ack2:

If you are talking about kawasaki, honda, yamaha and suzuki. 2004 I think it was they all came out with for stroke motox bikes, though I think yamaha had a few years head start on them. When they came out a lot of people didn't like them, but they are finding thier uses. For motox I would use a 4 stroke:thumbsup: For superx and free style I prefer a 2 stroke, the weight of the 2 and 4 stroke bikes is about the same, but the 2 stroke with less moving parts feels easyer to move around on in the air.

Actualy here in nz there are a lot of two stroke street bikes, I am sure they use a catilatic converter:confused: and I read that some chainsaws are using them two.

I am no expert but I think that a well tuned two stroke with the correct mixture shouldn't polute too much more than a four???? since the oil is only meant to lubricate????? None of my two strokes have visable smoke, I use the correct mixture in the fuel, and I was using them daily for a few years when I was a contractor, they run like new! so they are getting lubricated.

Regarding my origional post about the future availability of the two stroke lawn mower, I have heard back from most of the major manufacturers regarding this issue, and they all say the same, and that is that they sell two strokes and don't intend on changing that.:wai::cheers2:

Guess that is a conclusion to that question!

The EPA is another fraudulent government agency, kinda like Homeland security. How about these douchebags like Al Gore go after the real offenders, and leave the 2 strokes alone? Oh wait, then they wouldn't get money from them.......my bad

On the Obama thing I was only referring to the oil spill in particular, cap and trade can go to hell. All of the "letter" agencies are corrupt, you can call the ATF to question a firearms law and get 3 different answers in one day.
