You've been around the forum a while but I cannot associate you with the kart you have like I can with most others. You have several threads but no photos save one(?) that shows your chain, wheel and sprocket. I think you "threatened" once to post some pics but that fell through. :rolleyes:

You should do one thread showing photos of your kart and which addresses all your technical issues. Don't be shy, let's see some photos. We have the technology.

Manco steering wheel but not a Manco kart.

For the bearing: plenty of penetrating oil and brute force by hammer.
It looks like you've almost gotten the bearing off the axle. Good job.

For the wheel: this wheel has a steel insert. The steering shaft is also steel. It would appear that the two are now one through the process of rust. Break out your handy can of penetrating oil and douse it liberally and try to drive it off with a hammer (ball peen, not carpenter) and a steel punch or drift to localize the hammer blows around the rim of the recess.

EDIT: Looking at your axle picture...you need to get a socket just slightly larger than the axle and drive the bearing back on a little bit....then take a file and file off the mushrooming on the axle end on an angle (chamfering the edge ) small movement back and forth on the axle with the bearing and penetrating oil and it should practically fall off. Use a wooden dowel when beating on the axle.

Also, if the axle threads are indeed damaged, it is quite possible to restore them with the proper-sized die or even a set of needle files.

If it's a Manco wheel, it has a cross bolt running through the hub of the wheel topped off with a nut on the opposite side. If the shaft and wheel are "one" you can bet it has rusted together.

But we nor you have any idea what it truly is. Isn't guessing fun?

EDIT--Apparently, he didn't listen to us the first time. He must have thought we were idiots so he posted the same question hoping to get different results.

What is it with these newbs and dozens of questions all asking the same thing?

Check out eBay item # 201663276172.
2 Manco steering wheels, one just like yours.
One of the pics shows what yours looks like where it slides on the steering shaft.
You need to prop the kart up so that you can repeatedly spray PB Blaster and let it soak down into the collar for a few days.
Then you take an open end wrench that just fits over the shaft and butt it against the underside of the wheel and smack the wrench with a hammer as close to the shaft as you can get.
Tap on the shaft close to the wheel some before you smack the wrench with the hammer, it may help loosen the wheel.
If you have a bigass adjustable wrench, that would work even better than an open end.
You'd have more contact area and you can smack it harder.
Of course, if you miss you might knock the roller out of the wrench but you can't have everything!

that is a Manco steeering wheel..

to verify.. the Manco wheels are made by Kelch corp and you'll likely find that name on the bottom of the "hub" section

on that pic you see the cross bolt sticking out which needs to be removed...

penetrating oil (on every rusted part in the pic) and patience will do the rest ;)
maybe with the help of some gentle hammering forces :D

Is it that complicated? add penetrating oil [WAIT, repeat where applicable] and remove the dang thing already...

Maybe why nobody told you to remove one. I told you what you had before the pics... And several members have told you how to remove it. If you had been listening and using penetrating oil this whole time it would be off.

Don't blame us for your inability to comprehend....you can only tell a monkey how to crack an egg so many ways.

Then it is rusted on?

Might be welded. Can you get us a pic from below; a close-up macro photo?

What if there IS a bolt but the head broke off? Quite a possibility--then you'd need a drift or punch to push (hammer) it out the other side.

Now that you know how simply it comes on and off...and what to do...I'll add a couple of more things: use those holes to your advantage as well and spray in them too.

Use PB Blaster or WD-40 SPECIALIST Penetrating Oil...Do NOT use Original WD-40!

Turn the wheels all the way one way...then figure out a way to lock that pitman arm...( don't use the steering linkage) ...to keep that from moving ( like a little bit longer 2x4) so you can twist on that wheel as well.
