starting a new arachnid build

Hi all, im starting my first gocart build and I've chosen the arachnid. I see theres a lot of spidercart builds on the site already. Im currently at the stage of pile of steel. I've got to get a metal chopsaw and then ill be off to the races! any direct pointers would be appreciated! one thing I was wondering is about the front suspension. ive read that it needs to be widening from the plans. should i wait to get a rack and pinion and measure off that? Thanks!

i chopped up some tubing and welded up the bottom frame. it was a pretty fun event. i made a jig out of a piece of 3/4 plywood with 2x4's under it. it came out about a 1/16" off corner to corner but overall im happy with it. im using an eastwood 200 tig welder for it since thats all i have available. i used a piece of 1x6 and marked off all the angles i needed then used an angle transfer do-dad to get the angle right on the chopsaw. that worked out great! I welded up the outer frame then put in the inner pieces. i only had to cut the inners down an 1/8" to get them in there.

Normally, I hear of MIG welders to make frames, but those are BEAUTIFUL beads!

I would rather mig it, but my brother in law just happened to have a tig welder he wasn't using so i grabbed it. ive been real impressed with it so far, except when i tried using 75/25 gas.
