I don't think a hand grinder would have enough torque for that thing.

Can you think of any battery operated solution?

Do you think a freewhile on my drill would work?

The starter motors from a lot of Toyota's I've seen have gear reduction on them along with a one way bearing that would allow the output to rotate faster than the motor, thus not ripping any arms off. I wonder if something like that would benefit you?

i believe all car starters do that. even tractor mower. youll just need a big flywheel to mate the starter gears to

Man, I wouldn't know what exact model and year to give you. I've seen them in many of the Toyotas when I go to the auto yards. I took one once not knowing it had gears inside. I've seen it in Camry's for sure.

No, not all the starters have reduction in them. I have several car starters that I've removed but only the one from the Toyota has the reduction.

Look at this: One's for a Nissan and the other is a Toyota. The Nissan has the motor's shaft going straight out and the Toyota has the motor on top and the solenoid on the bottom. The area in front of the two is a gear case. I don't think it's a LOT of reduction because the difference in the gears isn't much, but I think anything would help you out.

or you can get one of those "quick change" drill atatchments where you slide a lock up about 1/8'', keave it unlocked and when it gets started just yank it off

No we have already extablished that a drill is dangerous and doesnt crank fast enough to start his engine. I learned the hard way on a 3.5 Tecumsea. Unfortunatly the drill was fast enough to crank it and as soon as it started the torque made it imposible to remove and it twisted my wrist perty bad.
