So I been really puzzled over the rear shocks. I have several 100's $$ of parts on order which should be here to progress. But I need order some shocks for the rear engine mount. I am happy with the front shocks which are made by azusa. But only have a 2.4" travel.

I like to have a little more travel so when I install them I going put the joint up in a angle such as post# 31. Thus when the pax weight will bring it down near level. This will cause some of the travel to come down/up.

I have looked at several sand rail shocks but unfortunate many of these online description are brief of non-descriptive of the shocks weight ratings etc. Anyone
have used larger shocks?

I think I found some ... Hammerheads 6.000.245 ... I just was hoping to spend a little less than $200 for rear shocks.

...But, not unreasonable; I've always said that the most expensive single part of a suspension frame is the suspension itself; if you spend less than $100 per corner, you won't be happy & you will be replacing them very soon; unfortunately, that's just how it is...

P.S. That's one reason I haven't built my buggy yet...

^ that's why I also sourced all my suspension parts off an atv instead of buying new. I can always get cheap usrd stuff, and as long as they're still good I'm happy.

Went to order the parts this morning at 3am while I was working a very late night at work. Well after reading some reviews on larger size shocks it brings me back to the 12 - 14.

The concern is larger shocks can bend or even break. The travel distance gives you no additional distance.

Due to a design flaw I am removing my 3" back swing mount welded mounts (spindle mounts) on the back. The ones connected to the "body" frame to the engine swing mount. So after removing them I need to move the joints up about 3 or 4 inches. This is all because of how the kart/buggy will sit with the tires.

So my question is I am considering keeping the spindle mounts I have on the rear engine swing mount and using a grade 8 5/8 king pin. But use some Heim joints which
will be bolted thur the frame.

Any feedback on this?

So I looking at my gearing to start order them. But in reviewing
I want to make sure I understand that for off road dirt road with
this cart I want to aim to a 8:1 gear ratio? Using the series 40
TC with the #41 chain I may need to use a double jack to a
compound gearing to reach that.

Can some one confirm this 8:1 ratio?

I have been making some progress. I redid the back and got the 22X11 - 8 tires on with the 44" X 1" axle. Then I got my rear shocks from ebay and made some mounts for them. Kart is finally start to looking like it coming together.

Worked on getting the steering shaft mounted this weekend. In addition I did lots of planning and measurements for the motor mount. I welded and drill holes for the plate. Put the engine and fit perfect on the first try with no adjustments. Now just waiting for some gears, etc to come in.

Well after much discussion and research I got my gears today for the axle and the jack shaft.

I was able to find a #40 29T and #40 28T. So from my TC series
40 which will have a 10T I will go to a 3/4 Jack shaft with a 29T. Then from the JS exit on a 10T and go to a 28T. This should give me a 8.12:1 ratio.

Just now need to order the Torque Converter $eries 40 in a
few weeks with the #40 chain.

Since I using them with a Jack Shaft, splitting them in 1/2 (28 & 29) they are small. But when you do the math it will deliver a 8.12:1. Else if I skip the jack shaft and go from 10T on the TC I will need to use a 80T #40 which is about 12" across.
