Almost want to make a poll just to get an idea of what would be a better option, continue with the ST2 or just jump on the VF1 Crosskart bandwagon?

Im not familiar with the st2 but it does look cool.
I saw the vf1 and like the fact that I can buy the kit and build it myself.
If I had to bend all that stuff I'd screw up.
The vf1 has everything laser marked for easy line up and part identification.
There also seems to be a decent builder coalition to help with issues.

The appeal to the VF-1 by comparison is it was designed to be modified with ATV parts out of the gate for the front end and I guess the rear too. He was nice enough (as far as I know) to include pretty much all the dimensions needed for having it sent off to be CNC cut. I have tried contacting Badland a few times since I got the plans for the CAD files for parts to be CNC cut out and no response. I could draw them back out in FreeCAD but that will take a while.

Still waiting for summer to be over so I can start rebuilding the engine. I will be doing new pistons, rings, etc. Also doing a good honing of the cylinders. This buggy will definitely be a MK-II compared to what Badland came up with 22 years ago.

At the moment been in the middle of revising the plan set. There's a few engineering and note errors in this plan set its amazing. Some of it might have been conversion errors from converting metric to standard. For example the main frame section, is stated to be made from 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x 0.065" tubing. That is far too thin to be safe for my snowmobile engine. I am bumping up to either 13ga or 11ga tubing.
Also abandoning the a-arm setup and going for heim joints instead which will give more flexibility and adjustment over the fixed geometry. Another thing I have to change is, the axles are not setup for plunge. Even assuming equal length A-arms, there is still a margin of error that the axles would need to plunge. This is where using a CV axle or U-joint with a slip joint in it is key. In fact most builds do switch to CV axles because of this reason.
So while I am waiting for the temps to become reasonable, I am revising the design, cleaning errors, and modifying to work with my engine and gearbox combination.

At the moment, it looks like the Badland Buggy website is up again, after who knows how long it was down or at least not working. No idea if this is permanent, since it still shows a 2015 Copyright at the bottom.

Took a swift kick to the nuts today. Was looking to see what off road park is down south we go by on occassion, its Cedar Run. Looked at the website, they have effectively banned all sandrails and buggies from going on their trails. If it was not factory built (Side by side, UTV, quad, or dirt bike) not allowed. Regardless if it was legally registered in the state with the appropriate tags and documents.
Real ball kicker since we go around d that area at least once or a few times a year, depending on what we want to do. But there are other places down there that are not restricted and you can drive. So I am not completely SOL, far as I know. Bessey is another place, but thats 3 and a half hours north west of where I live. That park is why there is a width restriction in the state.

Ordered two 1310 PTO yokes with a 1 1/4" bore and 1/4" key way. I have an idea on how to make a slip-yoke axle.

Have to give a quick shout out to Denny's Driveshafts. Ordered those parts last night, this afternoon, was emailed it was canceled because billing address was wrong. Was like okay. Ordered them again and changed the billing address. About 20 minutes later got another email saying there is a problem, please give us a call.
So called them up and spoke with them. Turns out everything was fine, but the zip code. So most of the time when you do a payment thing, it always asks for the zip code. Well since I do purchases on my phone a LOT, it defaults the normal zip code with a hyphen with the additional four digits for super specific areas. That addional few digits was the problem. They got that all sorted out no problem.
They also verified my order because I had ordered set screws without a hole in them and wanted to make sure that was correct. I said it was because for my application, at this time I don't need to run a safety wire in it. If I do find it may need one in the future, I'll order the others.
Customer service for them is really solid, would highly recommend using them.
