Almost want to make a poll just to get an idea of what would be a better option, continue with the ST2 or just jump on the VF1 Crosskart bandwagon?

Im not familiar with the st2 but it does look cool.
I saw the vf1 and like the fact that I can buy the kit and build it myself.
If I had to bend all that stuff I'd screw up.
The vf1 has everything laser marked for easy line up and part identification.
There also seems to be a decent builder coalition to help with issues.

The appeal to the VF-1 by comparison is it was designed to be modified with ATV parts out of the gate for the front end and I guess the rear too. He was nice enough (as far as I know) to include pretty much all the dimensions needed for having it sent off to be CNC cut. I have tried contacting Badland a few times since I got the plans for the CAD files for parts to be CNC cut out and no response. I could draw them back out in FreeCAD but that will take a while.

Still waiting for summer to be over so I can start rebuilding the engine. I will be doing new pistons, rings, etc. Also doing a good honing of the cylinders. This buggy will definitely be a MK-II compared to what Badland came up with 22 years ago.

At the moment been in the middle of revising the plan set. There's a few engineering and note errors in this plan set its amazing. Some of it might have been conversion errors from converting metric to standard. For example the main frame section, is stated to be made from 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x 0.065" tubing. That is far too thin to be safe for my snowmobile engine. I am bumping up to either 13ga or 11ga tubing.

Also abandoning the a-arm setup and going for heim joints instead which will give more flexibility and adjustment over the fixed geometry. Another thing I have to change is, the axles are not setup for plunge. Even assuming equal length A-arms, there is still a margin of error that the axles would need to plunge. This is where using a CV axle or U-joint with a slip joint in it is key. In fact most builds do switch to CV axles because of this reason.

So while I am waiting for the temps to become reasonable, I am revising the design, cleaning errors, and modifying to work with my engine and gearbox combination.
