I put the comet TC on the wife's bike, remember, it's used.

As I was readjusting the chain, it would go tight then loose during tire rotation. I'm figuring the rear sprocket is rifle range material?
The drive sprocket is new.

Please confirm or deny.

Thanks.

Yep...that's exactly it....but you're still a nut case.:lolgoku:

See...concentric..now eccentric...pretty soon I'll be growing a beard, smoking a pipe, and driving a SAAB.

I believe I found the problem.

Maybe.... SERIOUSLY....maybe...SHOULD be...but believe it or not...maybe not completely.

You and Hellion Should really get together.

Maybe they already are.

BTW: McKutzy... That was a dig at our good friend Gerry who drives a SAAB , smokes a pipe, and has a beard. Also...because he is a dictionary hoar who likes big words.. ( the other part of the joke.)

Well, something was making the sprocket non concentric.

Yes...and if you had clicked the link....you would have seen in Eric's ( Chancer's) case it was indeed the BOLT pattern... In this case...( at least for the moment) a bad bearing.. Neither of which is an axle.

So...yes... SOMETHING was making the sprocket non concentric...but almost assuredly not the axle...(as it doesn't turn.)

Well it is hard to diagnose problems via forums.
I used to tell customers that called with broke stuff asking what's wrong, I'd ask them to put the appliance on the phone....

I'm believing as the pooboy says, it's probably not the whole problem.
I'm thinking something else may be wacked as well.
There really isn't a whole lot though that could cause a chain to tighten up then loosen while the wheel rotates.
If it turns out something is wonky with the sprocket, I have another to use.
The only other thing I can think of would be a horribly bent jack shaft.

Which it isn't.
