spindel design question

I just got a bunch of metal today from a friend and I've been planing out a kart for a bit. Now I'm working on the spindels.

I have seen people use 2 bits of angel iron and I have some but I am not shure if it's too small.

it's about 1 1/4" by 1 1/4"

I think my "C" bracket is 5" top to bottom. Realy all you need is enough room to have the spindle/bolt welded to the tubing and the arm.

Lol I look back at some of my welds like those and those are some of my least best one's. Sure it has great penetetration but it doesnt look super pretty or anything.
