Okay my shot.
20 mins from my place to the access track, you need a quite capable vehicle to get through the track this time if year, the water is deep enough to come over the bonnet in a few places, naturally it's also quite muddy.
This would be about 1/5th of the sand dunes.
One of the great things about this place is no one knows it exists! I actually found it by accident! Only once have there been tracks from other vehicles when I've been there and I've never seen another vehicle out there!
You need a capable 4wd to get up the 1st dune, it's quite steep and sharp. Naturally, my Suzuki walks up it like it's not there!

This was the day I discovered these dunes.
Half an hour up the coast from that dune system is Yeagarup dunes, the biggest mobile dune system(it moves in land at a rate of 4m a year or something like that) in the southern hemisphere I'm led to believe, though much of it is pegged off and you can only drive certain parts unlike the above Meerup dunes where you can go where ever you like. I've only been there once in my friends paddock basher S2a Land Rover. I think we were 15 or 16, so neither of us had a licence, the car was unregistered and also had no exhaust or seats. In hind sight that probably wasn't such a good idea.... Haha. Here's a vid, we never did make it up the first dune!!

This is Fish Creek, about half an hour south of me, home to seriously epic fishing and great camping, 4wd access only. That hut is one of a few around the area that are free for anyone to stay at, just built by local fisherman. Naturally these days you'd be up for huge fines if you built such a thing. Pic is not mine.
A dune on the track on the way there, I've never heard of anyone driving up this so naturally, challenge accepted, not that I really think it's possible in a vehicle modified within the legal boundaries (which are VERY strict in Aus). I made it half way up on road pressure with a half hearted attempt in 1st low, I wouldn't want to give it everything I've got without someone there, it's a very remote area and no one goes there this time of year. I know it doesn't look like much but in this pic but it's at least twice as tall (I would say 2.5 times taller) and slightly steeper than the pic with my friends Patrol on the face of the Meerup dune.
This is one of the tracks that goes to the hut, I wish I could've gotten a better picture, this doesn't do it justice at all.
We have some awesome forest too, this is the river that runs next to my house, the trees are regrowth from when it was all logged in the 70s and 80s so it's all a bit weedy. I must get some pics of our untouched forest.
