The torque cell came in, but they changed them from reading 0-100 ft-lbs to 29-147 ft-lbs, so this one won’t work. The hunt is on for one that will read low enough to do these little motors with, because I believe that 30+ ft-lbs out of a 6.5 hp engine is pretty optimistic to say the least. I’m going to build a 208cc motor for mine that I hope will be in that range, but I realize that I can hope in one hand and poop in the other and I know which one will fill up first.

My gx390 stroker at 10.2:1 doesn’t put out 30ft lbs.

You get about a 33% increase in torque going from 8.5:1 to 12.1:1 (on gas).

Oh i know, 30 ft-lb would be huge. The key word there was hope. I’m building a pretty nasty 208cc motor that’ll be on 30% nitromethane. I’m going to lean on it hard and it’ll make whatever it makes, provided that it stays together of course (the block is what I’m worried about). I’m not hung up on numbers, just hoping.

Building a floorpan for kart 3 and figured out a lift is pretty handy for floorpan work. I’ve got to make a couple of mount tabs and fine tune the floor just a little and this one will be a throttle cable away from finished.

Got a pretty big shipment of parts in today. BMI shorted me a head gasket, but I’m sure it’ll be cleared up with a phone call.

I also got the nerf bars modified on kart 3 and got the body on it. It’s a throttle cable away from being fun now.
The column got cut down on the banshee today also. All that’s left is to move the pedals and install all new bearings and the throttle cable and it’s done aside from the body which hasn’t been ordered yet.

And they must pay for shipping again

I fully expect them to cover it since that was a $700 order that they missed a part on. I’m sure it won’t be a problem. The worst part is that it could set me back on my motor build depending on where my piston lands and what gasket I need to get the right piston to head clearance (I ordered a few) which is needing to be done in a week.

Dyno is operational again. I’ll hopefully have my motor built by mid next week and get started on tuning it.

Yes, it’s taller than a normal clone valve cover to make room for the shaft mounted rockers. Those come stock on the champion 6.5 and have better geometry and no flex. I have to order new arms for them as I’ve found a guy that sells 1.3 rockers for them rather than the stock 1.1

So I bought this today. I guess kart 3 will become the community kart for friends and family to ride, I’m going open racing, and the gf’s oldest just inherited a badmax.
