Give it a few days, I have some killer parts on the way

I need to get off my butt and build one. Last time I built a performance engine was back in the mid 90s. It was a 351W I put into a 68 Ford Fairlane, not long afterwards I put it into a truck. After driving it from one coast to the other it ended up in Oklahoma city.

I miss that thing.

Too many projects, not enough time, focus, or money.

I know the feeling. My daily driver is a turbocharged 84 K20. It’s my only transportation and carried me to south Florida when I moved, and when I moved back. I love a hot rod anything, and it’s fun to drive one everywhere you go.

What engine you have in that old K20?

350 4 bolt, steel crank, PM rods, dish pistons, some weird big cam that I don’t remember the specs for, 487x heads with guideplates, screw in studs, good springs, and a mild port job, and a 70mm large frame T4 blowing through a modded 750 double pumper.

We went racing last night. My new head has longer valves than my old one so mine wasn’t together, but we too the boys karts.
The youngest checked out on them in the heat and the feature and brought home first by a full straight away. The oldest had it won and was opening the gap when his motor started laying down and he got bumped out. I rode his kart after the races and it definitely has a problem. On lap 3 it felt like it was binding up and was laboring to even run.
I’ve been working on a video that shows what’s involved in a trip to the track. Hopefully I’ll have it done and posted within the next couple of days. It’ll have the boys race videos on it.

That's too bad that the other engine had a problem, but hey, that's racing for you. Ya drive hard, and ya hope nothing goes wrong.

Well you should have that one engine torn down and fixed in no time, or at least replaced.

It’s already been fixed and dyno tested, lol. It broke the dipper off and thrashedwthe rod and crank. Luckily I had the old ones out of the motor I build for my outlaw kart so I just cleaned it up and swapped some parts . It runs like a champ again.

Here’s a pic of the crank and rod out of the black #11. I literally took one of the rod bolts out with my fingers.
And on the subject of crank and rod, I got them in for my new motor. +.175 billet 4340 stroker crank and 3.525 billet rod. I bought them from a buddy who’s an engine builder at a good price. They only have a couple of races on them and I’m looking forward to putting them in my new tillotson block when I finally get it.

In for the results of timing research

I still need to do that. I have a stock predator with only a pvl flywheel, cl4 cam, nice valve job, and .009 head gasket craning out right at 16 ft/lbs, but I wasn’t super methodical about the testing or even keeping track of it.

I budgeted for it. Then my truck puked coolant all over today. My budget changed. Dang Ford 6.0.
