Hey NJOHC, just out of curiosity, did you oil your UNI filter?

I didn't think they had to be oiled but they do.

Other than that, looks like your having a blast. Cool that theres some girls riding in your area.

Yup, I oiled both layers. I went a little extra on the outside after I saw it was letting some sand through. Thanks!

Is it difficult to oil these? I should have a dual layer UNI like what you have on the way for my 22mm Mikuni on my GX160.

I think I will get a Outerwear.

Nope not at all. I just have a problem with over oiling things! lol Just oil the inside lightly. What my dad told me is when I think I have enough, its probably too much. Just put enough on so that when you have clean dry hands, and touch is you get that slight oil shine on them. It shouldnt feel wet and you shouldnt really be able to see oil dripping off of it! haha. You can go a little heavier on the outside of you want, but if you get an outerwears it should help a lot. I got rid of my UNI because it let too much sand and dust in. I switch to a k&n with an oiled UNI foam pre-filter. I haven't had anything get into the carb or adapter with this set up. If you look at the pic on the first page with all the karts you can barely see my yellow outerwears that I use when I know where we're going has puddles we need to cross. It's water repellent to it really helps for water.

I can never get over how amanda's spin either. I guess since she's really light and her kart is pretty light it makes it a lot easier. She's got a 5:4 gear ratio too and it revs to 5000RPM. The only place I pull on her is top end. Other than that her kart just rips! lol

Update: Brakes came last week. They look okay. Kind of what was expected for 40$ chinese brakes. And they even threw in some fluid too lol.

Air filter: I changed my mind and plan to make a mini snorkel filter for it. Im too paranoid when I go through the deep stuff with an open element filter. Grant also sells a billet adapter for the stock carb. He'll be emailing me pics of it tom. and I dont see why I wont want to buy it. So I might be looking at a little over 10hp with those mods.
And a stroker kit next year???? lol

Coolest mini update yet IMO.
Grant never got back to me so I emailed UNI. I basically told them what engine I have, that I want an element to fit inside the stock air box, and that I'd be happy to test it out for mass production once I get back to riding. Their VP shot me back an email asking for pics and dimensions so hopefully they can make one up and send it out. It would be pretty cool if I was able to say I brought that idea if it really happens.

Hey, I stopped by to get a look at your chain guard you'd told me about in my thread. If you ever get a chance to post a closeup pic of it, I'd kinda like to check it out sometime.

This is all I have of it currently. Its the piece hanging down on the left hand side. Its just welded on and a PITA for the kind of riding I do.It's basicaly just a square box around the sprocket. I always have to remember to put anything remotely tall to the right side or it lifts the whole back of the kart up and the wheels just spin.

I dont miss that engine 1 bit! lol

It's my dad's. Its a 78 I think. He's the original owner and lifted it himself. I think he's got cams and a holley carb on it.

Did you get the EX27 and T/C to fit, yet? If not, then... you talked about extending it for more footroom. Cut it at the seat and extend - give more room for the driver and more for the engine. You may need to move those bars behind the engine in either case.

We havent gotten much done unfortunately. Long story short, the friend I rode with got a boyfriend and decided it was better to totally ignore a friend of 10 years and then take him riding etc. The good thing is, I know all the trails, where they ride, the people in the area, and some of the cops know we dont do any harm.

So Im just waiting for my dad to get the engine plates built in work. Since it doesnt need to be as reliable as before, Im just going to use pillow block bearings for the jackshaft. Ill let the engine rev a little higher and try to mess around a little more with timing, exhaust and intake. I can go to the extremes with timing now since it'll only be good for some blasts on the weekends.
