It's a flat head opposed twin engine...or boxer 2 cylinder if you like. Dependable engines, not much in the aftermarket world for billet parts because USLMRA (US Lawn Mower Racing Association) racers take the Vanny V-Twin over the oppy for whatever reason, they never give them the attention they deserve.

Way too much LOL:roflol:
Is that a Briggs Vanguard?
It's epic to see it try to turn to the right on takeoff.

You can never have too much!

But as kartorbust said, just an opposed twin briggs, splash lube.

Nothin fancy , but hard to kill

There's no replacement for displacement!

You should call it the GoKart 911 since it's like a Porsche...

---------- Post added at 12:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 PM ----------

And 911 is also suitable 'cause that thing looks like it needs 911 responders on hand at all times:lolgoku:

So its 10 degrees here, and the roads are covered, so I got the bright idea to make a "stud" tire and go for it.

The pictures tell the tale, and I did not intentionally go thru the ditch

So scratch that idea, I need to wait for warmer weather

The frame was not up to the task of supporting such an engine

So I removed the twin before whats left of my first homemade kart was tacoed , and resurrected it.

The 357cc needed a home as well

Now featuring matching tires with tread! (they even hold air!) And a seat that's securely mounted!

I now have a 1 wheel peel that barks tire and does doughnuts on dry pavement

I enjoy my small blocks, but the torque simply cant compare

Its the 357cc that threw a rod, welded the block up and replaced rod + piston , running real healthy

With 6 to 1 gearing and 15in wheel

Very fun

Now with air filtration!

The filter is a Kawasaki 11013-0727 used on twins (take off of course)

No need to spend big $ on fancy top plates, headers and billet adapters, just hold my beer!

41 seconds: Oops. :roflol:
That is wicked!
I hope my kart will do that once I gear it down.

I wanted to do the same with a smaller engine,

but to achieve my current ratio, I used a 1in bore step down clutch with 10t driver, and a 60t on wheel , for 6 to 1

Most #35 chain 3/4 clutchs only go down to 12t, and with a large 72 tooth sprocket on the wheel, your still only at 6 to 1

Jackshaft might be necessary

If you go torque converter, it upshifts when you start spinning, and it saps alot of power , so no party

One day, just please dont do it in your parents garage :lolgoku:

Yeah, that might result in loss of garage privileges...
I was hoping to put a 10T clutch on my kart, but that's not possible with #35 chain, and 1/2" chains mean bigger sprockets, so on and so forth. There are more details in my build off thread, but yeah, if I want lower gearing, I need a bigger sprocket, smaller tires, or both.
However since it's a Max-Torque SS clutch, I can upgrade the spring, so I can get harder takeoffs with high gearing.
At least, that's the idea. ;)

One problem:
FIT: #40/41/420 Chain
Someone on here once ordered a #35 chain clutch and was shipped one for 1/2" pitch chain.
That's what people get for buying stuff from China!

True enough, at least being an Amazon prime member if something isn't right, they always fix the issue, one time to the tune of them being -$750 in my favor!

Thank you! I had fun making them

I started working on the hm80 (I thought it was a hm100 but was wrong) yesterday after sitting for a year, ordered a new rod and repaired the crankshaft , rod spun on crank. Cast iron bore, single bearing crank, 318cc.
Will be run with a genuine VM22 , header, ported, ect
Total project cost-$21 for a stens replacement rod
Really just want to see what an old tecumseh big block flathead can do

The 357cc is going to be repaired for my brothers minibike (rod spun again), since it only needs a rod as well, and he will take the crank to work and professionally polish the journal.

The kart will get a 420cc clone in its place,

And finally the turbo got installed on a kohler command 20hp t-twin, and will debut on my new kart build.

Too many projects not enough time as always

That bike is awesome. It follows my philosophy about cars, take the smallest vehicle you can find, and cram in the biggest engine that'll fit, heavily modified of course, and take it to the strip.
