Sketch tire shredder Live axle delete!

I pulled the live axle and bearings off my kart for the mower build.

The 212 that was on the kart is down for some rework, so the briggs came out of retirement.

I threw this together for the fun of it, I wanted to experience a typical
1 wheel yard cart with too much power and speed.

I had most of the parts, so It only cost $15 to make the kart a dead axle.

The motor has a billet rod, flywheel, cam, ect.

I modified my tillotson manifold to fit a gx390 ish carb. Running very nice, surprising throttle response. Top end screams compared to the old carb. Its below freezing now , dont worry.

I am quite proud of my throttle linkage.

Anyway I am going to attempt a top speed run tomorrow, hoping for 55mph with 5 to 1 gear ratio

I got close to top speed, its not terrible, still extremely sketchy, and the worst part is when you let off, It gets alittle squirrely. Some front end adjustments and carb jetting and it should be ready for the 55 run.

Does not help I am on a very bumpy, poorly maintained road.

Since this is a proper redneck race kart, it needs a tow vehicle.

I made the tow bar quick detach, so I can pull it to the road or a nearby parking lot. And The mower has a slow moving vehicle sign, so its legal.

I flat towed it about 3 miles round trip to a nicer spot to ride,

I only got 44 mph, seems like I need some more timing, and its running slightly lean.

Only getting about 5800rpm, should be able to hit at least 6500.

Anyway this is the dangers of going fast on low speed tires and wheel bearings , or just on a yard kart in general ,

I am waiting on some timing keys and another 4.10x6 tire, but I messed with the carb.

I opened up the main jet (too big), So I refilled with solder, drilled #65 (.034 , slightly under factory)

The low speed jet I opened up to #78, (.016)

It seems to like that. And got rid of the E3 for a j19lm. Runs smooth.

What yall running for plugs in these?

Considering other options than the 95-4 grind cam, something more aggressive.

The predator that lived on the kart prior got some love.

The power output started lacking, so I tore it down.

I found the headgasket and valves were leaking.

The engine is a 212 hemi , With a gx160 ut2 head, lct 208cc rockers and studs, 10.8 "racing" springs, and a NR racing 230 - 0211 Marine grind cam.

I lapped the valves, and used Russ2251's method and deleted the head gasket. I also ported the head.

Should run hot, torque monster.

Bad news - First run blew the magnet off the flywheel,
I thought It would blow the rod first, But no, blew the
flywheel first.

I thought I blew a rod, bang, sparks flew, engine stopped.

I know I set the coil gap right, and tightened the bolts. Nothing was in the shroud.

I am lucky the flywheel did not blow, could have been much worse.

Anyway, I wanted to rip this thing, It was running absolutely nasty. See the flame on one of the first revs?

Good thing I was recording.

thanks for the info man. IIRC a guy lost one of his fingers or thumb to one of those magnets. spend a few more bucks and get billet so you wont end up worse off than that. IF i sent you a link to dropbox could you give me that original footage? I am compiling a list of photos and video for reasons to use billet rods/flywheels. I can credit you in the final video.

Thats scary , still got all my digits, It could have been much worse! At least I had the top plate on, that took most of the shrapnel. My hands were in the danger zone, no good at all.

I have spun stock predator flywheels faster with no issue, I think how violent it revs (it was scary being next to it running,before the explosion) I mean e85 with probably 12:1 compression, plus no load on the motor, was way to much energy for the flywheel to handle. I am glad I torqued to spec, and put the ugga-dugga away.

I am not going to run that engine ever again without a billet flywheel,
and rod.

It's weird how it broke off without much of a trace. So it came unglued and launched it self. At least it didnt become an external combustion engine.

I took a look at the piece of steel that held the magnet down.

It got spat out the shroud.

You can see the bolt got ripped out, and it got "turned" on the coil, you can see the lamination

I got something planned, and it will annihilate tires

It involves a HM100 tecumseh (10hp,358cc), an ARC billet rod, and a little helper.

but what yall think will happen when I hit the PTO switch at 5K?

17t to 60t with 13in tire = 55mph at 5k , 42CI (688cc) rated 19.5hp @3600rpm

Biggest displacement 1wheel peel go kart record?

Will it smoke the tire off or smoke the clutch? Can it be driven? Torque steer? Soon.

Some wonder how much torque a 1 wheel drive can handle.

Anyway its running like crap because I was using my finger to open up the throttle.

It does work, and burns

Time to mount the battery and throttle cable and attempt to ride it.

This machine may get less than one tire per mile lol
