Should I convert to live axle?

OK, so you guys know about my Briggs yard kart, but now I'm considering entering it into the 2019 Buildoff. But I'm worried about how much power I'm planning on squeezing out of the engine and the driveline.
I'm expecting anywhere from 10-20 hp, and I'm worried that with that much power and single wheel drive, it will start doing donuts upon takeoff. I'm thinking I should convert it to live axle, it will also affect handling by making it hard to turn on pavement.
It's got 5" wide tires in the back and 4.10" wide in the front if that helps.
I'm thinking it will still result in better handling if I do a live axle, so I can take off straight.

yes, especially if it's going to be used on dirt

Unless your running alternative fuels or something crazy, I dont think your going to have enough torque to spin out with a 206 flathead

When you build up smallblock engines to that level, you dont have nearly the torque of a larger displacement engine of similar HP.

With a 212 predator built for torque, and slick pavement the torque steer was alittle sketchy, but manageable.

If your mostly riding pavement, id stay one wheel peeling!

This is expensive, but the best solution for you may be a solid axle with a differential.

It's a 213 cc flathead FYI I converted ci to cc as it's 13 ci.
Ok, so I should be fine on pavement with my current setup until I want to try really anything like off roading.
Will a live axle really have much effect on pavement handlingwise on pavement?

It’ll handle (corner) differently but once you get used to (and adjust your driving for) it, you’ll be fine.

Ok thanks one and all for your input and advice. I'll stick with one wheel peel for now and might someday convert to live or differential axle.
