shopping cart go kart gearing

hi

i'm building a go kart off a shopping cart, it will have 12" wheels with a 5.5 hp honda engine and a 12 tooth clutch. the drive setup will be a live axle and the cart wheight around 80 lbs (i weight 140 lbs) , my question is : if i put a 60 tooth sprocket on the axle will i have enough torque to do wheelies or i'm better going with a 72 tooth ? (i want to go to around 20 mph )

i dont think it will have the torque with either of your gear selections and as far as 20 mph i would get the 72t sprocket

next time i will put a 13 hp with a torque converter !! there will be torque

yeah with a 60 it would be difficult to get wheelies, especcaly with 12 inch wheels. go with the 72.
