I got a can of Diesel and a wire wheel for the drill.

JB weld a bead lip back on it. LOL

Sideways I got a 5" wheel you can have. Just pay shipping for Portland Oregon USA. Not sure if it is worth it for you. But I thought I would offer it.

The wheel has a 1" hub on it. Tire looks good.

I had a look at our small motors shop and they only had those crappy 4" ones, I'l go down to the tractor place next time I go to Manji.

Put it in an electrolysis bath overnight, wake up, no more go kart.



But seriously, have you grinded/sanded any part down to see if it has anything left? lol

Cmon, it's not that bad! Yes I have, and yes there is metal under there.

I haven't done any work on it worth reporting, been working, getting up at 3:30am to go chase cows around, oh fun.

So today I attacked it with the wire wheel, I'm really happy with how it came out! Turns out, it was originally light blue and someone painted it black, the black was peeling off making it look a lot worse than it really was, in most places the blue is still there, as you can see.

Some of it was pretty badly pitted, not rusted through anywhere though.

Came out pretty nice.

All the bottom now in primer!

All you need to de-rust you kart! Much quicker then electrolysis ever could of been, took me about half an hour to do all the stuff that I did.

Yeah those wires can bloody hurt! The drill doesn't spin fast enough to spin them off thank god lol.

The engine will be a little 1979 4HP Briggs that I converted from vertical to horizontal shaft, it's pretty worn out but it should go okay, I'd like to get a bigger vertical shaft to convert and put on it though.

I've got a Suzuki S200 that I might put on it of I can get it going, it's got a pump attached to it that wont come off though! And it has no spark, dead coil.

The pump is stuffed (I've cut and chiseled most of it away), probably wouldn't give enough pressure to move anything anyway.

Yeah, the shaft is threaded, that doesn't worry me though, I'l just get a pulley that is the same inside diameter and cut a key way in the shaft. I don't like centrifugal clutches anyway.

I'm getting there with the little 4" grinder lol. It's cast aluminium so the grinder discs don't like it that much. It's a really high quality casting so it's really hard to break up.

it is quite hot and if u didnt expect it to go off and it got on your arm then thats the end of your arm.
on a differant note u could create some and put it in the pump and light it then the pump would decintigrate.

Got the tie rods off, with a hacksaw... Almost as strait as a circle!

A free thanks goes to anyone who can show me a more rusted tie rod end! The other one is worse.

I found a can of spray paint that is almost the same colour as as the original paint, it's bloody bright! Not something you would want to look at when you've got a hangover!

Here's what's left of the Zooks pump, I was gona grind 2 flats into it and see if I can crack it with a big pipe wrench, there's a piece of the pump in that pic, I had to drill a thousand holes in it and smash it with a big home made hammer to get that bit off!

They used to hold the floor on, the floor rusted away so only the welds are left.

If I recall, thermite requires a pretty high temperature to ignite, usually requiring a magnesium fuse to light. Black powder won't even ignite it. So unless you have some magnesium lying around in an open flame with thermite surrounding, I don't think you have much to worry about.

I've been working on the steering, god I hate rusted parts. The only way to "work" on this steering is with a hacksaw.

The Zook engine bolts on so I guess I've found its motive power! Now to fix the engine. :rolleyes3:
