u, know..its funny, I've yet to let anyone know my age on here and that might clear a few things up lol, I'm 15 it's been about two weeks since I have seriously got into karting, but I can already tell its a passion and not just something to run around with for a month and do the next thing kids do these days or whatever. I don't know, that's just how my brain works...

I'm 16, been doing this stuff my whole life. I'm the same way as you, this is what i love, working with my hands, fabricating, thats what i like.

now, i dont want to burst your bubble, but this kart will not have the power your thinking it will. My first kart i made was using a 100cc 4 stroke from a 87' suzuki dirtbike. I geared it for a top speed of 60mph in 6th, and it never made it there. Once i got past 3rd gear it would bog if i tried to shift into 4th. I now its tempting to go for it, but a word of advice is to just wait it out, build a minibike or something and save up for a decent engine for your go kart.

i know Im putting pressure by asking you all the questions, but you have been the MOST help, unlike some dream crushers *cough*Kaptain Krunch*cough*. you my freind have helped me the most in almost all of my post, so here is a cookie.

Im not trying to crush your dreams, trust me, its a lot better to do some research and figure out that something wont work before you put money into it.

well, I have been driving since I was 8...I own a truck, fourwheeler, and a go-kart. speed isnt the issue. but this is the main thing I am trying to get oyu people to see, I know the engine isn't worth it. I just want to build a good frame and put that engine on it for a first time project to see if I can even build a shifter kart, and if it works? hey, I'll get get a bigger engine...and wait, where did 100 on a kart come from? i never wanted to go that fast on a go kart :roflol:

lol if you want a real challenge lol make a racing mower ahahah but anyway if you want a first time project make a mini bike or simple gokart. cause projects that take forever if you dont have the pactients tend to get scraped.

mmmkkk

ok so I have decided, this will be a much of a challenge to get this thing rolling I believe (if i can get the motor running) I will transfer the plant onto my minibike project. but, will it still be a minibike with a real bike engine in it? especially if the bike was capable of 50mph on the road and ill be using a frame that's roughly the same size (but way lighter)

Looks like youll have fun with all the projects you have. I have to say, like everyone else, wait until you have a bigger engine to do this project. You might put the engine on the kart and then find out that you need alot of modifications to change the motor. Im 19 and ive been working on engines since i was..... geez maybe 7. Ive made MANY projects that i scrapped due to bad parts. I made a goped out of a weedwhacker and a large scooter. It worked but it was way underpowered. Had i been patient it would have been awesome. Do alot of research, collect all the parts you need and then build. Dont jump into anything without having supplies. If you do the project will be pretty poorly made, or wont last long. Putting the engine you have on a minibike is a great idea. It will be much faster then the go kart. Im not smashing your dreams, just speaking from my experience.
