How about a 2 stroke mounted at an angle to allow it to fit under the seat?

thanks! i didn't draw the engine (imported it from 3D warehouse), but i made everything else.

as for the chain tensioner, the bike engine kit comes with one which i will modify to be spring loaded so it will pick up the slack in the lower gears and once the chain has stretched.

right now i'm trying to figure out a way to avoid the whole live axle concept, but i will need to fabricate some fancy hubs.

the main reason the engine is back there is because the head needs to squeeze in-between the frame, and i need to put my feet somewhere.

i'm going to show this to my teacher tomorrow and if i don't have a horrible day at school i might be able to get started!

EDIT: i was fooling around with the engines angle, only concern i have with that is that it would have to be about 45 degrees to have the spark plug clear, and then i would need to redirect the chain so it doesn't eat up the block. i will know for sure what fits best once i get the engine.

I forget, have you decided on an engine yet? The 2.5 with the tank and air box removed should be low profile enough to fit under there.

i'm planning to use one of those bicycle engine kits off ebay, which has a 66cc 2 stroke making a max of 6hp @6000rpm. i'm not sure what the dimensions are of the gf 2.5, but i kinda doubt it will fit.

i doubt that 66cc 2 stroke makes 6hp.... thats almost as much as my clone.

the HF 2.5 is like a really mini version of the 6.5, i saw it at HF to compare them. IMO, it looks even cheaper than the quality of the 6.5.

my thoughts exactly, but i just wrote what it said on the website.

as for the 2.5, seems a bit over priced considering the 6.5 can be as low as 80.

not tube, i'm using it for my tank. thats what i thought, but i figured i would ask anyway, this thing i believe is rated to run a full bead on 18ga, how thin could i get with just spot welds 20ga? i'm going to try to see if i can find a properly sized soup can that i could use. instead of making a tank from scratch.

any ideas on paint? i'm really liking the red orange on the frame, but not sure about the tank... purple? a leafy green (tropical)? black? red? blue?

I like a chrome, white, and deeper fire engine red. I saw it on a Vitamin Water bottle today in my locker, and it really grabbed my eye. That will be MY next scheme.

i'm going to try to get this started soon, wanted to start it today but i need some more cut off wheels and can't get a ride to the store :mad2:, there goes a whole day.
i did pick up some meal a few days ago, i'm planning to fabricate a hub for this using some 1 1/4" conduit as the main part of the hub because 1 3/8" OD bearings fit in it perfectly! good to know next time i need to make a jack shaft (i also now have 10ft of it!).

i'm also considering making this have a fixed ratio for now and maybe messing around with the 3 speed later. maybe i could do what porche9303dude(i think thats his user name) did on one of his mini's. he had two sprockets that he could switch between manually.
i would set it up with a spring loaded tensioner so to switch gears you would just put your foot on the tensioner, switched the chain, and took your foot off, it would work good, not as cool, but like i said, i could change it later.
maybe i could even just keep it at a single speed, a little bit of math i did a while back said i could get up a 20 degree hill from a dead stop with 3hp geared at 15mph, so i would bet with 3-5hp (as advertised) and geared at 15mph i could fly up a 10- 15 degree hill!

EDIT: my new headphones and some good music probably aren't helping with my schedule either :D

i like dewalt XP disks the best, however they cost $3 each!!

i don't buy many of them, but i think i will probably start using them a bit more.

on a different note, once this project is done i'm thinking of making a welding table, i got some good ideas going on it. it would be pretty much a welding table with all my welding equipment, angle grinder ect, maybe even a vise!

Use a hacksaw! Lol. I prefer one to a 4" grinder, however 9" grinders are beast!

Have you considered a mini-ctv? Like on some minimotos?
