lol.

so what do you guys think about this setup for the mini, mini bike? to make it work i would have to widen the back by 1", and offset the wheel 1/8-1/4"

66cc 2 stroke engine, rated 3hp @ 5000rpm, manual clutch, 4:1 reduction, 10t output sprocket.

mountain bike front sprocket cassette w/ derailleur, 3 sprockets, 44t, 28t, 22t (or similar), a 22t sprocket will get me to 15mph with some power.

3/4" jack shaft used as live axle.

8.9" OD tire on 4" rim.

160mm mechanical mountain bike disk brake.

i think it would work beautifully, what do you guys think?

p.s. wouldn't a disk brake made to stop 26" tires be much more effective on an 8.9" tire?

sounds good to me. the coolest thing ever would be if you could pull it out of your backpack, and start driving away.

at least most of it in a backpack haha.

have you got a sketchup of it yet? i fail at computer sketching lol.

btw- for all the bike stuff- go to a bicycle shop, if youre at the right place they will take care of you.

ive been to 2 places with my gas powered razor MX500 and i got some great used calipers and stuff for free.

thanks, i will see if my local shop has any good deals for me, my dad rides bikes so i have a box of parts i can do what i want with, along with a few bikes! i was digging through and i found the perfect sprocket assembly! something like 44t, 30t, 22t.

i wasn't actually thinking of making a sketch-up of this one, but if i get bored it could happen.

i was thinking about hooking up a quick release to the fork, if i could seal the tank i could fit it in my back pack and strap the forks to the back! lol.

I have often contemplated using a pedal bike rear wheel and derailer etc on a go kart or some such..

now i been looking at the MXB Motorcross Board..

so then i got looking for an engine to use on such a thing..

my thinking was use one of the kids old pedal bikes, or go by a used one for like 10-30$ at a pawn shop/garage sale/wherever..

but then wouldnt ya know it?

I found alink right on this very DIY go kart place with a link to "Bicycle engine kits"

now i think they are in austrailia or something.. but he its like 200$ or 220$ depending on engine size... come with everything you need pretty much to hook up to a pedal bike and run it, aside from gas/oil (And maybe a batter??)

I was thinking that would be puuurfect for what i want..

anyways, if you wana use bike parts etc, for like 200-350$ plus shiping, you have everything you would need aside form the bike.. what you make outta it from there is up to you.. :D

but also, i dont see why you couldnt do it with a bike with gears on it..

and there are other kits out there as well from what i understand...

I'll proll be looking into it more myself in the next mnth or two.. mainly if they can ship it to my location ain canada, and whats the bottom line price!!! lol

EDIT:

BOINK!!

actually, those bike engine kits are exactly what i was planning to use, if my old thread was still up things might make more sense (i had a lot of stuff on that thread that i remember, and no one else does, so don't be alarmed if i'm like remember how.... and you guys are just like ????????)

i could just put the kit on a bike like its supposed to, but thats too easy :D. if your interested in these things search "motoredbikes" it s a forum about this. you can buy kits online to allow you to use the gears on a bike.

ill download it when i get all this software figured out loll!

thanks! only thing i have to say is o learn as much about all the tools as possible. draw lines as reference lines, then erase them later, and most importantly, once you can make a decent looking creation, start making your models as close to scale as possible! its just easier! plus you can then import stuff from the were house and it will be sized appropriately (assuming the original creator made it to scale.

one of my favorite tools is the extrude tool, its great, thats what i used to make all the angles in the round tube, you can also make bends in tubing with it. plus i made a comet 30 series driver with it in like 3min with it!

yeah we use CAD in engineering class, i think its called auto desk inventor pro 2011. there are wayyyy to many features... makes sketchup look like the start menu... LOL.

well umm... better hope this 50cc engine was not to scale....

hahaha. well since the basic idea of this is being super small, as long as you can get 2 fingers on the handle bars. and feet off the ground, its good!

lol, yea, i measured and its about the same size as the little kids bike all 5ft 9in of me can fit on! :roflol:

i realized i messed up one of the measurements, its actually going to be about 1" longer than in the plans because it doesn't have the bend at the rear. i also put the engine in, it fits! just barely, but it fits! depending on how i cram th engine in there i might have a heated seat with a spark plug poking through right in front of it, just make sure it doesn't stick out above the seat, the a crash, that would be bad!!!!!!!!! :roflol:

one other very good tool with sketch-up is being able to make components.

i'm still thinking about the paint colors, but heres a pic of it with all the major stuff, notice how a notch is cut out of the seat to allow the spark plug to go through? lol.

wow! your good at sketchup! thats detail!

look at all that empty space... its way to big! lol, jk, the engine the farthest back may let you not have to make a chain tensioner! that would be nice to not deal with on my clone bike. chain issues...

the chain on all of my builds is always the problem. always falls off after like 20 feet until i finally get a good tensioner working
