Rupp brake question

So I recently acquired a Rupp wide hoop kart. I’m in the process of tearing it down so I can do a complete restore but I’m having trouble removing the brake. Is there a secret to this? What do I have to do to get it off the sxle? Thanks in advance!

You need to remove the circled allen-head set screw to remove the brake assembly. As well as any others you might find.
And PB Blaster penetrant helps.

JT I already did that, just stuck it back in there so I wouldn’t lose it. And I want it to go the other direction correct? Off the axle not on, towards the threaded part? Unless I’m missing something you are saying.

No you understood me right.
If the set screw is loose, soak it in penetrating oil for a few days, and try to slide it off toward the threaded end.

Looks like a taper lock style. If it is, you would use pusher bolts to separate the bushing.

Randy H that’s what I thinking that tapered piece was holding it. So use pusher bolts to remove it? How exactly do I do that?

Look for a couple of threaded holes in the bushing. Then clean them, a bottom tap would be helpful.
Thread in a couple of bolts and alternate tightening until things separate.

You have a couple of studs in the pic, I'm not sure what's going on there.
