Since I will be going up on the roof tonight with a sleeping bag.....just wondering.....should I take the .270 ....or 30.06.....

I'm thinking the .270.....since he may not have any designs on coming near my house this year.......

All for naught.....he barely made a showing here in the White "trashy" part of White Settlement....and he wasn't in the sleigh...he was driving a red UPS truck....

Bringing up an old thread as a new member, mostly because shooting is the expensive hobby I'm trying to occupy time away from with karts.

I can't believe guns are that ridiculously controlled and priced on the other side of the world! I would have been broke 7 times over with the small collection I have.

To me accurate depends on the rifle. If you're talking my 1944 Springfield M1 Garand with original barrel & receiver over open sights, I'm happy freestanding hitting golf balls at 40 yards.
If you're talking about either of my heavily modified competition level 10/22's, then I'm not happy unless I'm dotting the i's in Titleist at 50+. Most of the time 15 yards with any pistol in my collection is a good day, although screwing the can on the end of the 22 is much more satisfying. The AR-9 and Mini-14 can easily hit that same golf ball at 50 yards freestanding, out past 100 if from a bench. So in the end it depends on what you're shooting and how you're shooting it to determine if it's accurate or not. Somehow I still have a devil of a time breaking a crossing pigeon at 15 yards with my 20ga.

Definition of an arsenal: An average Texas or Oklahoma gun collection.

Shyflyguy brings up a good point.....the gun is only as accurate as the shooter and only needs to be as accurate as the shooters wants and needs require.

On crossing birds/clays....I always tried to bring the gun up just behind them and swing through....pulling the trigger just as it cleared the bird....

In actuality the gun's lead was traveling faster than the bird, so the barrel was actually getting in front of the clay more than it seemed.

For me, it was the most consistent way to establish a lead and I rarely pulled the trigger too soon.

Once upon a time, I was a pretty good wingshooter. I once shot a 23 on skeet which impressed my younger puller...,then I really blew his mind...I usually shot trap and didn't bother to change chokes....I did that with a full choke....

Nowadays, I could probably shoot 23 with an improved cylinder....and 3 boxes of shells.......Point being, you have to practice to be good.....

my m1 garand i can hit a penney sice object frome 50 yards with no scope pretty easy. the only other gun i can do that with is my CZ 22 hornet.

I can hit anything 8 feet away with my Mosin Nagant 91/30 just by swinging it.

I have a old Marlin 22 semi auto my dad bought me in 1975 w/scope for $49.95. I can hit anything I want darn near anywhere I want within 225 yards. I love that cheap piece of sh1t. With the ar15 I had I could not shoot myself in the foot.
