So I have a gokart with what I believe is an engine going bad, I can get it to start and it will run for half a tank and then die. I had replaced the carb, then the pull start went south. I am looking for a replacement engine that is pretty much a direct drop in. My current engine is a Tecumseh powersport 6HP with a max torque converter on it and the only identifying marks on the kart are BTK Charger. Can anybody point me in the right direction I wouldn't mind a little more power also. I am attaching some photos.

A Predator 6.5 (harbor freight) should drop in. May have to adjust here and there but over all it should b pnp.

some 8hp engines have a 1" output shaft, pretty sure your current engine is 3/4", make sure the engine you get has the 3/4" shaft unless you plan on getting a new clutch or t/c as well

We would need to see you current linkage...

The simplest way to hook up a throttle control to a honda/clone is by using a cable...

I have attached the pics of the linkage on the old engine, also the pullstart on the predator goes to the front can I just give it a 1/4 turn back to get it in the same position as the old engine.

EDIT: Cancel the pull start question I just looked at it again all good on it.

Simple enough, disconnect the throttle cable from the old engine & attach it to the new engine as per the pic below; you will also need to back off the 10mm nut (indicated by red arrow) just slightly & make sure the return spring returns the throttle completely...

OK that looks easy enough I couldn't see that on the H F website guess the plastic cover is over top of it. SO I have the right one in the cart then? Got my debit card ready to get it.

So......if you should find one teeny little downside to posting a profile location....please post.....as you will be the first to do it ....regret it.....and post it......

Got you I am in Windsor, Va. and luckily we do not have the strict emissions laws that some States do. I have updated my location in my profile also.

Went on and ordered it $108 shipped to the door can't beat that price my wife was even happy with it. I was waiting on the usual lets wait but I gave her the price and she was like go ahead. Can't wait for it to get here I will probably go ahead and drop the old motor out today.

Thanks for all the help and sorry for all the questions, I usually only deal with RC Nitro trucks and am pretty good with those.

Thanks for filling out your location.....you should be very happy with the new Predator.....just don't get your fuels mixed up....it'll be really fast....but not for long......

Never really got into the RC thing.....but my departed friend used to race electric ones........However.....when I was a teenager....my brother and I used to build and fly hand control airplanes.....I miss the smell of nitro.....

Now that you're here...there's an "Off Topic " section where you can post some pics of those trucks and talk about them....I'm sure a lot of members would be interested and it would help introduce some younger members to a hobby that is not computer generated......

Always nice when the wife is on your side of the fence. I also used to be into nitro. I had a T-Maxx 3.3 . I don't have my truck anymore but I have a bunch of stuff left over. New and used. New thermometer, Chevron tires, new Ford F-350 body, etc. If interested, PM me and we can negotiate a price.

Excellent I talked to a buddy of mine today who has some friends that run the same engine and they love them, I can't wait for mine to get here. Are the aftermarket pipes and air filters I have seen worth the extra money, I don't want to modify it to much but a little extra power would be nice.
