If anything, there's not enough slack; the belt shouldn't grab until you get on the throttle, nor should it rub on the driver. If the belt is grabbing at all at idle it's too tight

Yeah, if the second pic is your engine at idle (or turned off) the belt definately looks a bit tight. Sometimes I think they look like they are going to fall off, but it is right that way.
How is it working out for you? Does the kart creep forward at idle, or does it work fine?

Fabroman, landuse it doesn't creep at all but I only allowed it to run for about five minutes. I was afriad of damage without more info. I thought to that the belt was still a little tight even with the slack that it has, however I have never seen one together before. How do I go about adding more slack? Should I be concernabout the chain as well?
You have got to measure the center to center distance between the 2 TC parts. This distance needs to be matched up with the belt chart in one of the links that I posted earlier regarding TC belts. You have to buy the correct belt for the correct distance.
If the belt is too tight, it will definately wear faster.

It does look a bit snug. Then again, if the kart isn't creeping forward at idle, it would seem to suggest that it's fine. Double check your belt and center distance off the chart.

How do you determine if a driven clutch is bad? I'm trying to make belt adjustments, however when the kart is on a stand and idle the wheels are rolling (creep) another thing I noticed is when you get on the throttle the driven is not opening up like I think it should. I measured everything before purchasing the new cvt clutch and belt I know it's 30 series from the help of you guys out there. This kart was sitting outdoors before being given to us. I know there's a lot we must learn to get it running correctly. Thanks to all for your time.

landuse, I measured the distance between the 2 TC parts then went to the chart 6 3/4 and it state belt 5959, I measured again and got the same outcome.

Hey guys have any of you heard that there are 2 different Comet 30 series belts? I can't get the adjustments thats needed and to me it appears that the
5959 belt is too small. Have any of you guys out ever had this effect?
