well you could go with the very popular 6.5hp honda clone engines (can get them for $100 on sale). Now since you want a lower gear ratio so you can go mudding and what not you can probably get away with a centrifugal clutch ($30). In my opinion I'd get a comet 30 series torque converter ($189) it will allow you to use bigger tires and you'll have much better torque and top speed. There's also many mods you can make to a 6.5hp clone to give it more power.

You really are asking too much of that little, vintage (Clark, maybe?) chassis. No insult intended, but if you have to ask the questions that you are asking, you are probably NOT up to the level of modification and fabrication that would be required to accomplish what you're after. May I humbly suggest you get that kart running as-is, and then shop for a more suitable chassis later.

If I have bigger tires I will I need to change the sprocket size? One of my main problems is that the sprocket get caught up in grass and the engine will stop.

The kart runs. It runs great. I just don't want to drop a thousand bucks for a new chassis. I got a buddy that will help me weld. I just want to have some plans that will actually work. And I think I have it figured out. My only problem is still the tie rods. How do I get them to osscilate with the suspension? Oh and where do I find single A-Frames?

If your looking for more of a cushion feeling just get some 18" atv tires, they are only pressurized to 5psi (max) so the ride will be a lot smoother.

that is a vintage kart and likely worth a good chunk of change. you should research it a bit before you cut it up. That frame doesnt led itself well to suspention anyhow. 20$ worth of steel from a local fab shop and you can build one to your needs. a simple way to accomplish rear suspention is a hingeing frame behind the seat

$1000 for a new frame? Nah- get on CL and give it some time- you'd be surprised what you'll find. Consider selling it to finance the other one. That frame would require so much to make it happen, you'd be literally chopping it to bits and building a new frame- except that you'd ALSO have the frustration of trying to figure out how to make your ideas work with what's already there. Take my word for it, I've done it.

For starts, I suspect it may be a "Clark" brand kart. I have a hard to ID kart, and another member here has helped lead me to believe it's a Clark. His model is different than mine, but there are certain design elements that point that way. The front axle and spindle brackets are pretty unique.

I asked on another forum. They said it looks to definitely be a mid to late 60's Rupp narrow hoop A Bone that either had a body on it or was beefed up for commercial (rental) use. Looks to have turbine wheels, though hard to tell straight on. I'm no expert, but I wouldn't say it's particularly valuable because it doesn't have the body and it is significantly heavier than the race version of the A Bone. That doesn't mean you can't build it into something to bang around on, though. The turbines and the pedals are correct for vintage racers and are worth more than the kart itself.
