So i might score another riding mower but currently i have a 13hp 420cc riding mower that leaks gas and oil. But it drives and is great but what i want to do is rat rod it for cheap if not free.
My plans:
Pulley swap
Welded diff
Briggs swap (eventually)
Lower it in the front
Better steering geometry
CAMBER!
Remove the deck
Elec tape angry eyes
Custom steering wheel
Exhaust out the back or side
Gas pedal or something better than the crappy throttle control
I might have a picture or not

The blower housing makes me think Briggs, and I know a lot of flatheads out there are branded as MTDs, but IDK. If you could shoot me the 11-digit factory model number, I can help you find parts.

The tecumseh engines are as good as the briggs ones..
And yes I know more expensive spare parts, mostly crappy carbs,
and the combination of both made for a bad reputation.

fixing a gasket or two and you might be good..
better than finding a briggs that size (as in quicker & cheaper)

Yeah, with a mower, they tend to have a lot of finicky safety interlocks, so it could get complicated to do an engine swap.
Although, who needs safety interlocks anyways? :stir:

I'd see just how much fixing it needs, put a little money into it, and if it doesn't work, I'd look for a used engine to swap.
