I'm searching for an engine to put into my project. I saw the titan 6.5hp (honda gx200 clone) and was interested. Couldnt find many reviews on it, just alot of discussion topics (which didnt help me much).

So, anyone use this particular engine?

This may be silly, since I did see quite a bit of aftermarket parts for the Titan 6.5hp engine, are there other parts for different engines to spice it up a bit, which perhaps would be a better choice over this engine?

Yeah its is ok but a little pricy for what it is IMO take a look here --> http://www.nr-racing.com/Clones.htm you'll find just as good of an engine much cheaper.

Yeah, that first engine is 1/2 the price of where I saw the titan :)

I've looked up reviews on how the predator is doing. I've seen mainly bad, but some good. Would it be best to avoid those and buy another chinese clone?

What does this mean? Its at the top of the chinese 6.5 clone page.

the best thing to do would be to buy a name brand engine. Honda, or Robin Subaru would be great!

look for these, Robin Subaru EX17 6hp, $220 w/ free ship on ebay. Honda GX160's can usually be found used on craigslist for under $200. Robin Subaru EX27 9HP, 1" shaft, $270 w/ free ship on ebay.

IMO, the "predator" is probably exactly the same, or maybe slightly improved internally compared to the "greyhound" or any other clones.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the predator engines
they are somewhat new to the carting community, and like anything new some have doubts, others think they look funky, but honestly IMO they are just as good as any other clone out there. A clone by any other name is still a clone.
Now the BSP engines are built and modded solely for race carts.

Legal mumbo jumbo, basically saying if you install these industrial equipment replacement engines and it blows up in your face or you hurt yourself or anyone else don't try suing them, because it is your fault for installing an industrial engine on something it was not designed for.

I've been searching CL for sort of deals on engines, but none that I have found. Could have missed it. But, I'll keep my eye out. I dont buy from ebay, just because. Thanks r97.

Oh that makes sense cyborg. I may have to go check out the predator in person.

Tempting. Although I'm a bigger guy and 9HP would be better, wouldnt fit on the cart I'm going to be using (using one of the Azusa kits) :(

I'd prefer to buy new, since the cart will be new.

I may just have to go with the predator, unless I find something online that tickles my fancy.

i bet you could squeeze an EX27 on one of those kits, either drill a few new holes, or drill an adapter plate. anyhow, your call, just throwing in my 2 cents,

I appreciate r97. Thats why I made this thread, to get different opinions on different engines. So I can see whats available and pick from there.

Yeah I agree. However, I wont be beating it THAT hard or riding around every single day. I do work and live in a very snowy state :)

I would get either a gx200 or a gx200 direct clone. Then you will have many parts available.
My gx200 clone has done me fine. The only problem I have had with it that wasnt my fault was the plastic in the recoil breaking.

Not really. Its saying its for use on racing karts only because race vehicles are exempt from emissions standards.
