I don't have the balls to fly, plane or para or otherwise.
Flying is the second greatest thrill.
Landing is the first....

It's a backpack model.
Once I realized what you could do with one I was hooked.
The amount of ground you can cover is tremendous, and you can literally go in any direction.

Whats the take off procedure? Im lost at how you get the foil in the air?
Run?
Jump off a cliff?
Need a stiff headwind?

Ive jumped before. Thats gotta be so cool, just to stay under canopy for the entire time.

To take off the wing is laid out behind you. Get a run going which inflates the wing and it rises over head. While this is happening you start giving it throttle, and the fan starts pushing until you build enough speed and it lifts.

This all happens in about 25-30 steps. Not much space is needed to take off or land.

No head wind is needed, but it helps, and you don't have to jump off a cliff.

Any parking lot or field works just fine. People land at gas stations, fill up and take back off.

Saw that a dealer across the road from my work has a Humvee for sale. Actual US military surplus. Normally these go for about $10,000-$30,000 on the refurbished market. These guys hit the Crack pipe HARD with this one.

I'd do that kind. With the para, you're flying your own "safety device" aka the parachute. I supposed I'd like a backup parachute that I could deploy somehow. I mean how can the primary chute, which is your wing, fail?

For that kind of money the body isn't even flawless. The tailgate is dinged by the pintle hitch (common grunt-caused malady) and in the photo, the photographer has committed the same sin. Yeah, that's crazy money and it's still mostly mil-spec in the interior creature comforts (where it matters). Those things are crazy noisy. Humvees are cool and all but for general garrison duty, some militarized modern Jeep Wranglers would serve the same purpose and do a better job of it. They'd have to be diesel though.

How often did they run diesel in them and not JP8? I mean I've been half way tempted to buy a surplus humvee, add in a few creature comforts inside and be fine with it. It's no wider than a dually truck. Pretty gutless. Would also have to opt for the 4L80 and not the 3L80.

But that dealer always hits the Crack pipe hard for the vehicles they sell. They had a 2017 F350 standard cab long bed with 24" wheels on a 10" lift that they were asking $105k for it. Sat on the lot for a couple years.

JP8 is standard on Army bases, especially if they have helicopters, but the HMMWV is considered sort of multi-fuel, diesel or JP8, interchangeably.

Some Hummers have an overdrive transmission, some don't. The overdrive is what you want to keep those revs (and the roar) down. The turbo models are also more long legged for highway driving.

Lets be honest, it would just be plain awesome to drive around in a Humvee in OD green or FDE. It would be an FU money toy for me.

It would turn more heads than most other vehicles. 24v system on it at least is serviceable. Almost cheaper to get a Humvee than say a Deuce. An M35A2 would be nice with a hard top, but where would I park it? Humvee same thing, but could have 4 people in it kind of comfortably.

Now, a Deuce would be even more cooler! I can't justify either, but just saying if I had FU money, I probably have both. Well, I would to be honest! Lol.

If I had that kind of FU money, my choice of vehicle would be a DeLorean. I'm just a simple man with simple tastes.
