Well , if we are talking fast 2-cycles, has anyone heard of this?

152 mph in 1961 is crazy, let alone a period kart.

The 'Blendzall Special' as it was known was an amazing machine powered by a four-cylinder, 60-horsepower Mercury outboard engine. Reaching top speeds of 152 mph, which set the world speed record for a go-cart. The 'Blendzall Special' added to the Blendzall lore, and earned its place at the museum of speed in South Daytona Beach. (Note: the 'Blendzall Special' is now on display at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum at Talladega Speedway USA.)

Cool lil tractor, does it cut nice? Id keep it stock as possible. Looks solid.

Cleaned up this 30?+ year old honda hs521 snow thrower gx140. Back when honda made a real single stage pushrod snowthrower. Blasted with salt, all bolts and galvanized tins/shroud were roached. Replaced every bolt with clean 2nd hand genuine honda hardware. Cleaned block/head, replaced bubbling crank seals, repainted blistering tins, ect. Recoil starter is off a cub cadet 208 clone. Will be used with an eu3000 gen muffler, super quite. Don't look too bad, replaced the cashed crank seals with a pair robbed from a predator 212 that I wore out in less than 5 years.

ha we're in the same boat, or at least similar ones. :roflol:
Just waiting on parts to go fast.......
I'm sure once this is built that my 10K RPM Raptor will outrun your hopped up 8 horse. :cornut: Right now I'm waiting on the carburetor, new rod bearings/bolts, and then I can put the crank and all the other parts in. If it really does spin up to 10K RPM the way I build it, it should take the race kart over 60 MPH, even with the current low gearing. :drool5:

ahh yes that is sadly not true my hopped up 8 horse ran faster than my honda gx390 ungoverned, not tuned. it runs a mikuni clone and a big race pipe and has so much compression you can barely pull it over

mmmmm sure yeah, I don't think it'll have the whole billet/Wiseco treatment though. Gonna cut a fire slot in the head too. Fairly sure it has a big valve setup, it's definitely been ported and polished so its ports are certainly bigger. Oh, it's also been bored out a bit. :cornut:
I mean sure you've got the displacement advantage, but I have the RPM advantage, which means way more. I should be able to peel out, plus go over 60. Beat that!
You sure you wanna try and compete with one of Flyinhillbilly's old race engines??? You sure?? A fully built Dover Power and then customized engine??
At any rate, what does your 8 HP actually hit, RPM-wise? I'm curious.

Well if we're gonna blab about the specs here's mine:
ARC billet con rod + Wiseco piston
ARC billet flywheel
Fully reinforced block (welded lifters)
Fully ported/polished/eyebrows shaved
Bored out 0.03"
Racing only Dover Power camshaft, impossible to get any more
Copper head gasket, custom fire slot cylinder head
Unknown weight, but very heavy valve springs (VERY HEAVY)
Probably a big intake valve
Racing pipe
28mm PWK carburetor, YES it needs a 28mm it's such a beast

So even if your engine outruns this one off the line, I really don't think you're gonna get it to 10K RPM, and if you do it won't be long before it detonates.
