I've caught a MASSIVE tailslide on this bike before. I was heading down a very sloped street(probably about 45 degrees), and I was just coasting since I couldn't pedal that fast!
The bottom of the street where it made a T into the other street came up faster than I thought, so I slammed on the Bendix brake and turned right, but I didn't see the gravel!
So before I knew it, I had done a complete 90 degree drift on a bicycle!
I was incredibly lucky and probably blessed that I didn't go flying off and that there were no cars. Phew! That gravel probably saved me from getting seriously injured!

Well yesterday my dad suggested that I take my backburner project that currently does not run, and haul it off to the junkyard to be scrapped. That's exactly why I make the decisions about about my projects. Because he'd have me scrap my 1984 Sears Edger. All it needs is a new air filter, a carb rebuild/new carb, and a new coil and that h30'll be purring like a kitten.

That's basically the condition my 1977 Sears tiller is in. Needs some ignition system work, carb work, and a fresh spark plug and it'll be tearin' up the yard!(pun intended )

I guess that's the upside of being married, my house my rules. Long as my wife agrees with me and I abide by the set budget for projects (literally Johnny Cash the whole build), I can do them.

Yes, it is his house, But I'm the one who's funding my projects. Not to mention fixing all his stuff when it breaks. He isn't the best about maintenance, though he is good about changing oil.

And I have a plan for that truck when I get it (until I get something to put that engine in). I'm going to buy a used a/t tire, and have it mounted with three tires I have out in the garage (number four had some tread peeling/separating issues. Then have the front brakes checked out (just to get them working enough). And have the oil and possibly the trans fluid changed. On second thought, it's an AOD trans, which is fords alternative spelling of POS, so I ain't wasting any money on it. And finally slap a battery in it along with some gas, and a few air fresheners, run her through the woods. It's the perfect truck for it, because it doesn't matter if I hit something (without the engine and axle it's worthless), and I don't have to worry about the finish getting scratched because there is no clear coat anywhere. Some spots don't even have paint, though the rust blends quite well with the brown color that was created by the red paint aging horribly.

And budget, when I get bored I either clean my garage, fix something in my garage, build something in my garage, or go out and ride my bike (probably the most hazardous of all my hobbies).

Had Thanksgiving at my mother-in-law's place. Got back home a bit after 10:30pm after several stops...wifey got sick off the food and has been throwing up every so often since 9:00pm. Probably food poisoning, yet I ate the same thing she did and I'm fine. Far as we know, the others are fine too, won't know for sure until the afternoon. The in laws (mother, brother-in-law and sister-in-law) went to the bar to watch Nebraska volleyball...since the kids were hogging the TV to play Minecraft.

So yay for no sleep.

Speaking of being sick, I have a fever as of yesterday, and don't feel much better today.
It's just a bad cold, but it's really rough, everyone in our family either has it or is in one of the milder stages of it.
Can't hardly breathe in bed!

On another note, I made this yesterday! This week our church youth group is having a White Elephant Gift Exchange that I'm in charge of. And when I was planning it, I figured it should have a theme, so I ended up settling on a 1970s themed White Elephant. And I made this as the centerpiece!
It'll be right beneath the disco ball.....
My brother likes it so much that I ended up making the 70s accessories removable, so it can go on the mantel place after the party.
I painstakingly carved the slatted glasses with an X-acto knife, and the afro is actually steel wool I painted black with some black spray primer we had in the garage.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

The rest of my parts came in yesterday. I've got what I need to get the Manco running (yerf dog style jackshaft, and a muffler), plus belts for my streaker and Baja's torque converters. I also got a new sprocket for the bike, it's a 72 tooth, that'll replace the original 50t. Should bring it down from 58mph to 45 ish, and make t more capable off road, which has been my goal for a while now. I also got a massimo mb200 camo rear fender which should fit the baja. I also got a brake cable, front tires, and seatbelt for the drifter. I also got a rebuild kit for a gx200 carb that'll be going on my intek 6.5 redneck broke budget build (it's worth nothin', maybe $20 for parts), and a head gasket for the Tecumseh OHH60 I'm restoring/rebuilding (it was loosing power and burning oil).

That would be totally epic if I could keep it going to 50 years!

That is pretty cool. Though my edger's got that beat by a year (it's an 84). Difference is yours runs (mine needs a coil, an air filter, and possibly a carb.

But me and my parents finally struck a deal on that pickup. I pay them the $600 it cost to get a registration, battery and checkup, and they get me that truck here for Christmas. I am mandating that the truck be brought here on a full trailer (one that the whole truck sits on), instead of one of those things that just holds the front wheels. That's because the truck has 800k+ miles on it, and it's been sitting for about 10 years now (on the same tires it had when it was parked). So I'm going to put a used set of tires I have out in the garage on it, and use it out in the woods. My great uncle let the registration go when he parked it, so it'll cost more than the trucks worth to get it street legal again. Eventually I'll figure out what I'll put the engine in, I'll list the candidates below. But it has a 146 or 148 horse power, 1978 351 Windsor out of a Mercury Cougar (a total boat), that's fed by an autolite 2100 2 barrel, through asthmatic heads into a restrictive exhaust system. Anyway the engine is the only thing that's good (the axle has 800k on it, the trans is an AOD which is at least the runner up for the worst trans ever, and the truck was used for hauling shrimp). So when I get something to put the engine in, I'll pull the engine, then part out whats left, and when the usable parts are gone, I'll have the rest crushed. I'll keep the electronics likt the turn signal and lighting parts for an upcoming build.

As promised here are the candidates:
A 4x4 ranger or bronco,
A mustang (a bit obvious)
A crown vic sleeper (completely gutted)
Or a 65 Falcon (been done before, and pricey)
I'm leaning toward a 600hp crown vic or mustang.

I'll start up a thread in the more builds section when I get it with some pics.

Which Bronco? Bronco or Bronco II?

Today, I've started a list of complaints we have against our supervisor. Have about half a page so far worth. Probably will have it filled by the end of tonight. Will probably sit on it for a while.

The Bronco Bronco. I'm not sure is a 351'll fit in a Bronco II. But I'm think a 351 fox body, or maybe a fox 4. If I go the rout of the crown vic, I'm cutting the hood and getting a high rise intake. I'd try to get it to where when the hood is closed, the bottom of the air filter will be at the top of the hood (completely exposed), then fab up a snorkel hood. Like this one but boxier and metal. Might even do that on a mustang if I go that route.

The Bronco II is based on the Ford Ranger. You can drop in a 302 or a 351W. But you may need one from a Econoline van as some accessories from say an F-series truck will not fit well.

Umm that's a huge mischaracterization. 2 stroke Detroit Diesel engines have standard exhaust valves, not a flathead design. The Achates/Junkers Jumo 205/207 opposed piston engine has a complete different design because there is no head technically, just 2 pistons in each cylinder.

I’d be looking for a 1998 to 2012 (second generation) Crown Vic. That or a 1979-1993 (third gen) or 1994-2004 (fourth gen) mustang. The third gen stangs came with Ford small blocks, so a Windsor might swap right, with some adaptor parts. However the fourth gens came with the 4.6 modular which is bigger than the Windsor in every dimension except displacement. So a Windsor will fit, but the mounting will take some work. And unless I get a fox body stang, I’ll have to either custom make or modify the headers, because the modular headers won’t fit a Windsor, and the Windsor truck headers won’t fit in a car very well. There are kits to put a 351 in a fox body, so that’d be the easiest. But I’m going for something that hasn’t been done before.

Haven’t decided on a trans. If I’ll be going auto it’ll be a C6, but I’ll probably get a t56 or tr6060 if I’m going manual.

Avoid the early 2000s Crown Vic, they have steering problems. 2005 and up got rid of the problem. I'd recommend the P71 Police Interceptor version over the standard. Stronger frame, better suspension. They have oil cooler, trans cooler and power steering cooler. Need to replace the alternator right away as these were idled a lot so the alternator has a ton of hours on it and the bearings are usually shot.
