Questions on wiring electricals on gokart

Hello everyone, I am new to this board. My brother and I will be building a gokart and he appointed me with the electrical system. My experience and background with electrical components is from fixing and custom building guitar tube amplifiers, therefore, I have limited knowledge about electrical systems in this category. I did look up schematics from riding lawnmowers as I am thinking it will be similar.

I am planning on building a system where it's push button start instead of using a key. I've read briefly about solenoids and I plan to delete that if possible or do I need it? I drew a schematic diagram of what I think (with my limit knowledge) it might or could be but I am unsure if it will work. I am unsure if I should or need a 4k capacitor in that position, my intention is to stabilize the 12vdc for the headlights. I am also unsure if I should put in a rect diode in that position or delete it or should it be place before or after the 3 position switch.

The engine he plan to use is a rebuilt Tecumseh HM80 with a 1 wire stator coming out, and I don't think he is willing to upgrade it for a more amperage stator. According to my quick research online, these put out around 22vac at 3A., and with a voltage regulator, I am thinking it'll be around 12vdc. Will 3A be sufficient enough on charging a battery, such as a riding lawnmower battery, and power LED lights that are rated for 25watts? My brother also plan on swapping out the 120vac starter for a 12v starter.

I have attached a schematic of what I plan on doing. Let me know if what I drew will work or will I need additional components for it to work. Thank you

Starters pull lots of amps. You will need a heavy gauge wire from battery to starter with a relay in-between. Use the push button to trigger the relay.
3 amp is pretty low for running lights and charging at the same time.
You build tube amps? You should know your formulas then.
What is the wattage of the head lamp?
3 amp at 12v is 36 watts. Not a very big headlight.

Thanks Whitetrashrocke. Yes, it's basic math. The head lights he initially wanted to use was 50watts! I told him its bit much and resorted to the 25watts. I plan on using heavy gauge wires (10 or 8awg) for the starter. I will incorporate a relay system for the push button. I asked him if he wanted to update the stator and flywheel and he did not want to. I might be able to think of something like utilizing a mosfet system but at this time, I've already spent a lot of time with this.

Dont over think it. It's a kart.
I don't think you need a smoothing capacitor. The regulator does just fine. Even if it does pulse a bit an incandescent bulb won't care. And LEDs have such a wide input tolerance they don't really care either.

Not sure how you got a 120v starter either.

The 120vac starter was the original Tecumseh starter that you plug to the house electrical outlet. The motor was originally from a snowblower. He wanted to replace it with a 12v so he can use a 12v battery. I am not even sure where he found a 12v starter. If it was me, I wouldn't mind just pull starting it. I am thinking its more of a convenience.
