Ok, I've been trying to figure out why I see these angled motor mounts offered. I am building a suspension kart (Arachnid) with a larger than specified engine
(GX390 clone). What I want to know is why does one angle the engine? to get it level was my initial thought. Searches indicate reasons like getting the carb to clear the rear tire, etc. This is not an issue with me, the kart uses a 45" rear axle, so I have plenty of space between the rubber. The rear suspension already slopes down by about 10 degrees. Won't know exactly until I get the rolling chasis completed. Is the goal to get the engine back to level under normal loading? This would be my original thought after blowing up so many 4 cycle lawn mowers as a kid on sloped lawns until i finally wised up and got a Lawnboy. Would like to hear from others what is the best situation to mount this engine?
