I used to wach married with children all the time. Other classics from when I was a kid were Mcgyver, Airwolf, A-team, Dukes of Hazzard etc

 For the record, WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU CLAIM IS YOUR HOME????? With the exception of Married with Children, your list is of some of the best offerings off of U.S. TV while I was growing up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't S. Africa approx. 1/2 way around the Globe? As well as being on the other end of the Southern Hemisphere?:toetap05::eek:

South Africa didn't really have much of a TV industry back then. We only got colour TV the year I was born. The broadcasting network just used to buy everything from the States and Australia and that is what we saw. There were very few local programmes made here at the time. Even now most of the local stuff is rubbish. TV also used to only be broadcast from about 5 o'clock in the afternoon until about 11 o'clock at night. Before they signed off at the end of the evening they also played the national anthem. During the day there was just a test pattern with the time displayed. I have added a pic of what it looked like back then. If you can read afrikaans, you will have a good laugh

That just means he watched them upside-down.:roflol:

I was wondering why I always got a sore neck

Well seems i can fill in a question you have asked along the way.
Locker in the rear will out right double your turn radius in you upper gears at low speeds its not to bad.

Pretty much what I figured. I'm no stranger to locked rearends/live axles, and the handling characteristics they cause. On the plus side, this thing has Ackermann from the factory, so that will help.

I pulled the R/R wheel off earlier to service the brakes and locate the transaxle ID tag. The tranny is a Tecumseh-Peerless 920-012. Anybody (like Maine Mud Mower) know anything in particular about these units? I am fairly familiar with the 700 and 800 series. I know squat about the 920.

Well good thing is its a peerless and one of the ones that are easy to take apart and grease.
Heres a parts diagram

And if it will help a video on the tear down on a peerless 206-545c the on stearoids version of your tranny

Thanks! I actually have a manual (PDF) for servicing most T-P gearboxes, but I was hoping for some real-world knowledge. It would seem to me that this is a pretty stout unit, but a guy that has already abused one offroad would know firsthand whether it is up to the task.

No problem. They are know to hold up under 18 inch Atv tread. Some claim bigger but I would only do it if your not hitting to many bumps. Its bumps and sudden tire grip that kills the differential. Remember they where made to work with turf savers not something that can bite.

Were you have said you worked on others im assuming. You know to watch out for the ball detent and the 2 bolts in the bottom that have to be removed befor all the top case bolts.

With the stock pulley setup these are a shift on the go. But alot of us have found with a pulley swap that you have to clutch to shift

Hmm. I was thinking of some 22x11-8 ATV (balloon) knobbies, and the old Lincoln Locker. No rock action, just grass, dirt, gravel, some mud. Cargo rack, and pulling trailers around. Whaddya think? Will the tranny live?

Well the politically correct answer would be "your asking it to do some think it was never ment to do".

With that being said there are things you can do to increase your chances of a long life. Reinforce the frame is a big one eliminate the flex of the frame. Your tranny case is aluminum if the frame flexes it will crack the case.

Keap your pulley swap with in reason. A stock engine to a 6 on the back will hit 12 to 15 mph easy and still give you a good towing speed in 1st and second.

Make a skid plate for the back to keap the tranny safe Again aluminum on impact cracks. A 30.00 invest ment in some good steal is alot better then a 150.00 tranny the first rock you land on.

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't planning on increasing the top speed by much. I am building a racer, and this is not it. LOL.

... I'm actually watching some of your videos right now...
