Ok boys and girls, back to the stoopid project.
As you all know here at MTL We are always on the cutting edge of technology and with the recent air box/filter/monstrosity thing consuming time in all departments it was time for some creative leadership, so l ordered all the department heads to investigate 3D printing an air box. I know l know, thats why l'm CEO and they are slaves.
Then l remembered we don't have a 3D printer and know nothing about it.
Maybe another of the inmates here can share some advice?
Is this even possible/practical?
Are suitable materials available?
Is this a stoopid idea?
l've seen some purdy cool things printed and this might be another.
l'm sure the learning curve is easy for an old computer challenged geezer.
So there is this local guy...

A young fella on here a year or so ago was printing intake manifolds for some small engine. I think your idea has merit.

Its possible but I personally wouldnt pursue it unless I were planning to spend a good bit on quality filament . I have a ton of 3D printed stuff and its just not durable enough that I would consider it.

There is more durable material they can use but it gets expensive.PXL_20260206_124931799.jpgPXL_20260206_124851872.jpg

There are companies that print for you. You send a 3D model, they print it.

You CAN get it printed in metal even.

Yup and aluminum swarf everywhere.
I worked in a led mfg place and we cut extruded aluminum channel like this.
Just a better saw and out running rollers each side.
Gotta keep a sharp blade and let the saw do the work, dont push.

Is this going to be airbox v3.0.

Not a max wedge intake on that one. It’s only single 4 bbl. Max wedges had the crazy cross ram that hung over the valve covers or the old eddelbrock str design. Your thinking of the str like the hemis had?
