Help yerself, you know where they are.

ln other exciting news here @ MTL, the fine chinese starter on the blue scrap heap decided to go TU. As is customary the maintnace department gets one of the fleet vehicles tested a few days before its needed, to be sure all systems are performing normally. With a deep click a lotsa gray smoke, the starter checked out.
Swell l need to find a replacement and l have 9 days.
Nothing in stock within a 100 miles.

Meanwhile back in the shop.
l have secured a used OEM honda starter AND a geenuwine chinese POS as a backup.. Amazingly they are here already! So they only possible hitch in weekend plans will be weather.

ln other exciting news here at MTL we have a new program item, that will surely thrill all!
We call it Quickies! Unlike what Denny is thiinkin, these are small projects/parts/thingys
that "should" take only an hour or two to complete. Quickies are used when time constraints won't allow a full day of shop mayhem. So rather than waste time doing nothing, l waste time on this shyt. Usually quickies will be smaller sub assemblies, That will be available when needed.

Today's quickie, cutting brake Master.

The above info while basic to you experienced guys, is provided to educate and inspire youngns to getout there and build something. Strip down yer dads yard equipement for parts if necessary, but have fun, build!

In other exciting news, my darling wife named the project. She asked about it on one of her rare visits to the shop. I told her about it in detail and her response was " thats stoopid!" "what are you going to do with it?" So I took her title and ran with it. I even officially renamed the thread!
AND the weather has cooled off and its feelin like autumn. That means shop time!
So started a mockup of the engine to get an idea of what needs to be done.
Sumpthin like this. Still trying to figger out a mounting cradle that won't look like shyt and weigh 400#.

Love the new name! :ROFLMAO: Happy wife, happy life. So they say. lol.

I am attempting to put 4 1/2" circular saw blades on one of my RC trucks in place of the tires. Got one kind of mocked up and "finished" and my wife came in the shop. She asked what I was doing and after I told her, she said the same thing, "that's stupid". :ROFLMAO:

At least I got all the yard work done early and can relax with my projects and make stupid shyt!!! Beer, bourbon, fun projects and some college football is the second half of my day. Cheers to stupid projects! :cheers2:

I think all the R and D is done. Got one figured out. Now time to make the rest of them. 4x4 Rustler on 3s. Test drive went well with the one front wheel saw blade at full throttle. 🤣

Record it doin' doughnuts, on a sheet of plywood :cheers2:

Hey Grizzlymi, I'm into RC pretty hard myself. But fast electric boats. 8 of them,
mostly 4-s and a couple of 6-s. Looking at your Rustler with the saw blades for wheels, aside from being Stupid ( honestly, no offense intended ) is there any other reason? Or do you just really want to annihilate a piece of plywood. Man, be careful. If that thing were to get away from you it could be a trip to the emergency room.

Pancho, there is no other reason except to be stupid. I will be careful. Just a dumb idea in my head and wanted to make it happen. I'll see what I get into with it. lol. I got back into RC a few years ago after a couple decade hiatus, mostly 1/10 trucks, cars and crawlers and a bunch of 1/18 crawlers. Getting into the scale builds as well. When I get into something, I go all in. :ROFLMAO: Drives my wife nuts because I have way to many hobbies. I've been wanting to get a boat, so I will for sure ask your input on that when I'm ready.

That right there is a basic male trait! Its in our DNA. Like blowin things up! What male doesn't like a good destructive blast? Or tryin to get the high score on those traffic radar things. I could go on and on, but each of us has a specialty and all fall under the heading....

Worked on the powerplant securring cradle thingy. I think it should be purdy strong, ya know, weight/horespower/tork/stupid driver and other engineering stuff. So it looks like this so far. summa this stuff has to bolt in, otherwise l can never get at the engine to fix sumpthin and/or pull engine out. Triangelation is the secret to strong thingys.

Man, now that looks like an engine. Compared to the picture of it you posted in
# 156. What a difference.
