Anyway, today I had it running, at idle I estimated it to be moving at about 3mph. At half throttle it was booking, Im probably looking at excess of 20mph. Kind of scary considering how crappy it is.

What is the outside diameter of your rear tires, drive ratio, and max engine speed? I want to figure theoretical top speed.

Pfft, I don't freaking know. But when I had it going it maybe got up to 5mph, the gearing is geared for high ammount of torque and low speed. I've about given up on it. I can't find 3/4" rod anywhere longer than 3'
