Disclaimer: This project is in no way meant to look pretty!

This is my progress so far. Just using what metal I have at the moment. I got the frame from a friend and stretched and widened it and I've mounted the motor and rear axle. If this turns out to be a fun kart I'll cut some of the ugliness out and make it look better. I'm pretty excited about it! From the front frame rail to the axle is 6foot, I'm a tall guy

Ps working in a 11x7 storage building sucks!

Looks great so far. Is this engine a GS500? I am looking at (possibly) getting one for my buggy project. JUST missed out on a GT-650 at the last auction, been kicking myself for ages.

Is the welder going to be part of the chassis in case of emergency repairs while on the road? :arf:

Looking good man!

Great start! You will definitely want to add a third bearing to the axle, next to the sprocket. With that amount of power, it will bend the axle in no time.

Got some work done on the kart. Fixed the clutch pedel and gas pedel to work now. Rigged the shifter up and got nowhere on where I'm going to put the steering wheel. I think I'm going to add a floor over the clutch, brake and gas rods. Added the battery mount

I'm going to cut the two upright angle pieces and get some 1/2" black pipe from homedepot and make it look better.

You DEFINITELY need some better front tires and wheels. Those $10 hand truck wheels can barely handle a 3hp yard kart.

lol, I didn't put to much on the lifespan of those front wheels.

I haven't decided if I'm going to mount the bike tank or something else above the motor for gravity feed.

What is everyone doing for a seat? Boat or tractor seat? 2x4's ??

That frame does NOT look so structurally sound. I think a good drift or a hard bump will either bend it or crack some welds. I would make a frame from scratch with at least 1.5" tubing.
