When the throttle closes from open you still are turning high rpm with with a closed throttle. Fuel is coming from the pilot jet. When it is too lean, it doesn’t burn in the chamber… it exhausts out and burns in the exhaust pipe… needs fatter pilot jet. Unburned fuel is sent out the exhaust because the mixture is too lean when closing the throttle at a “high” rpm. Because the pilot jet is too small, the mixture is lean, the mixture doesn’t burn right in the combustion chamber, then it goes out the exhaust - mixes with fresh air - hits the hot steel - and ignites.
