What's up, guys?

I replaced an old engine with an out of the box predator 212 last year. Eventually the the double flange hub broke and I had a hard time finding one. Anyways, it stayed out in the weather for a few months with gas still in it. I thought I had put it away, but I was wrong, haha.

Anyways, I got the hub, tires, etc. I cleaned the carb, gas tank, filter and fuel lines. Give it a start and it would run for about 30 seconds and cut off. Figured it was the float setting, but apparently the float on here is not adjustable. Cleaned it again and it would only run with choke on and with the throttle all the way back (giving it gas). Found the idle jet under the idle screw and I think there was something plugging it up, so I cleaned it out real good.

Now I can't even get it to start. With or without choke. Starting fluid doesn't seem to help much. If it does start, it has a really slow chugging idle for 2 seconds, and then dies. I've also cleaned the filter and adjusted the valves.

It's also back firing sometimes when trying to start. I think that has to do with the starting fluid. Maybe I put to much of it in it. Also has brand new spark plug.

Any ideas?

Would it be best to soak it over night? I mean I've gone through 2 cans of carb spray and used a few bread tie twisties to really get inside of every whole. But I know how easy it is to miss things when dealing with carbs.

Nope....boil it in lemon juice.....check out some carb cleaning threads here....also, you want to poke out all the small holes with a thin wire.

EDIT: Sorry....see you already know to poke the "wholes"....lol....wholly moly....(sorry)

Sorry, lemon juice. Not sure why I said oil, hahaha.

Ok, so I know fuel is getting to the bowl like it should. So it has to be something past that.

Have u checked the plug gap? Did you ensure all gaskets/insulators are installed? Are they in good condition still? Did you ensure the lil seal was still good on the idle port plug? Is the fuel line pinched anywhere?

Just somethings that haven't been mentioned here I think...

Didnt think bout it till now... does your carb have the fuel/air mixture bolt(the one that is either usually broken off or has a limiter cap on it). If so... that may be clogged up, or something. If its broken off... then itll have to be replaced to clean out the passage... but that is 'just' a theory... fuel doesnt travel there... so no solidification/jelling would occur... but something 'else' to ponder upon/try.

Order an autolite 3910x plug and you won't have to ever worry about gaping the plug again and have you checked to see if its getting a strong spark may need to lightly sand the flywheel if it rusted up
