I know this talk is more about economics than politics, but I will have to strongly suggest that we get back on track with this thread.

Some folks don't understand the absolutes of economics anickode.

You just have to accept that as a fact. He will never realize if an import product is purchased then the country of origin has been supported. Short sighted consumerism comes into play. As for myself I admit that I buy the Chinese product. If I buy the comparable competitor product I am assuming at this point I am just buying a more expensive Chinese product as there are no other options. Who am I trying to fool? Myself? Or other people listening to my gibberish? At the end of the day the money goes back to the country of origin.

It's not that I dont see something, its hypocrisy to use a chinese made electronic device to bash me for saying you can get a chinese made engine shipped to you from inside the states. It's a gokart forum, not a political one so I really could care less about what anyone thinks of me, dont bash me and expect me to not say something, that's not my personality. I said flat out, I have two arriving tomorrow so I never tried to deny buying the product, start smashing everything you own that's made in china if you fellas feel so strongly about it. Harbor freight probably makes a 200% profit off each 212 they sell with a $99 coupon, but all that goes to china right? I'm sick of the BS I'm better than you attitude of a few members here, and I think I'll take a hiatus from the forum for a while. Peace!

Anyway, yes. Engine size is proportional to displacement. Just like a bigger soda bottle is, well, bigger than a smaller one. Doubling the displacement doesn't necessarily double any single dimension, as bore:stroke ratio remains similar, but the overall size increases proportionately.

As mentioned, they are all incredibly hard to find in store right now. If you're just on the hunt for an inexpensive engine to get your wheels rolling, search the local classifieds for something used. If you are planning to build a performance engine, you could wait to purchase, order one online and wait for shipping (HF shipping time is reasonable, but they definitely aren't Amazon prime), or find a used Honda or Honda clone to start with.

You can do a performance build on most any engine... Honda's, clones, and briggs flatheads will have the best assortment and most readily available parts however.
