I'm having a real big problem with two engines I got for my go kart. The first one was a used Honda GX200 that wouldn't start without choke, and would die after 3 seconds of the choke on. It would also die if I turned the choke off. I swapped it for a BRAND NEW Predator 212 and it's doing the EXACT same thing. What can it be?

Check for a collapsed or restricted fuel hose, crud in the tank, fuel valve partially closed if equipped, clogged fuel filter. It apparently isn't the engine if two engines exhibit the same behavior.

Check for any vacuum leaks, it could be sucking in air and leaning the mixture out.

If you have a compressor try blowing a 100psi thought the gas gas line directly into the carb. Watchout because gas will fly out of the overflow. 9 times out of ten this will work but if not pull your carb off. Take the float bowl off. Remove the float and clean the inlet jet. It is a tiny hole in the jet and doesn't take much to plug it up

Maybe it is just a coincidence theyre both doing it......pretty common issue though from what you described
