Predator 224 idle troubles

I have a predator 224cc I’ve had it for over a year now, previously had it on a go kart and ran fine no problems except the idle. I just moved it over to a mini bike frame and for the first time am trying to figure out why it won’t go to idle. Seems the governor springs/control arm/etc is causing it as where it meets the carb on top it won’t close at all. These pictures are after I spent some time looking so yes right now the springs are “messed up” because I was trying different ways to fix the problem. But even installed the correct way the problem is still there. Sorry if I worded this horribly lol I’m sure it’s butchered. First picture is how it’s looked since I don’t know when honestly since I’ve had I’m sure, the second one is what it is supposed to be. It’s almost like the governor arm is not pulling the throttle lever closed so it can sit at idle. It is also not staying running when the choke is off. Will only run on closed choke and obviously does not run with nearly as much power as it should. Any suggestions??

Is this not closed all the way?
Do you have to apply force to keep it closed?
Or it doesn’t close?

If you can keep it closed by applying force, would adding a throttle return spring do the trick?IMG_7346.jpeg

In addition to the spring circled in green, I’ve added springs by drilling a hole in this lever to pull in the direction of the red arrow.

Yeah in that picture I am holding it closed, in the first picture that is how it is without me interfering with it. It’s staying wide open so when it starts it’s wanting to take off immediately. It has a return spring but it’s almost like the governor control arm that the linkage connects to is stuck that way as this carb is new and it was doing it on the old one.

I will look into it but I don’t think the problem is with that part of the throttle it’s more of the black throttle lever on top of the carb that is giving problems, the silver throttle returns all the way to where idle should be at

The linkage will hold open the throttle when starting the engine. Is that what you are taking about? Lift the drive wheel off the ground, start the engine, then see what is happening when the engine is running.

That way you can play around with pushing and pulling various levers without it running away.

This spring holds it open even when silver lever is closed, right? This may need adjusting. I’m not very experienced on linkage setups on engines with governors.
