A straight (or curved) header pipe with no baffles or muffler added will probably give you the biggest single gain. The stock, restrictive muffler is basically a luxury item meant to make the engine as user-friendly and unobtrusive as possible.

I'd like to see someone do a Predator build-up in the same manner as this Briggs 5 HP build-up thread:

It would be the first "mod" I would do to the engine. With a new engine, would I need anything else or could it just be alone?

I don't know what's a good one. That's opening a can of worms you may not want to trifle with... and I'm not a Predator guru. :D

It's all relative anyway as most headers are tuned to certain performance characteristics or mods you have done prior. Or, conversely what you want out of your engine.

If you can weld.. An exhaust can almost be free..
Most likely need to rejet...
But then if your going that rout, get a new filter...

That doesn't mean it's perfect or free from defects. For all we know when your engine was assembled (on a Monday most likely), Zhang Jie was still recovering from a massive bender he had over the weekend and wasn't near sober yet. :D

It seems go-karting just isn't your game. You gotta have a certain feel for the machine you know which you are showing us that you sort of lack, you know?

Maybe you should go electric. :p

Just out of curiosity... how long have you had problems with the motor......
Ive been here ever since '08, and basically had brake problems non stop from the beginning on my bike...... just solved it last month.....with help here.... from people that knew something I didnt.
I hate to say, just chill, itll work out.... if you listen.....

I just bought the engine, so this is the first problem. It has only happened once, but I'd like to prevent this from happening because I was about a half hour of pushing the kart back to the house.

On the go kart I have a Comet Torque converter. I think it's a 20 series because it says "20" on it. On the driver unit (the part that goes on the engine if I have the incorrect term) there was always a brass "ring" on it that slid over. It has broken off. I was wondering what it was called and where I can get one?

So, a new problem has arisen. I'm fairly sure what's wrong, but not 100%. Whenever I accelerate or ease on the gas slowly, seems to take a second as I'd it were in neutral and then it snaps into gear and goes. I think the bushing I go and it's width is bit big enough because the belt doesn't fully ride on the bushing. About half on and half off. I'm fairly sure it's a 20 series (I'll take a picture when I get home) so I was maybe seeing if there is either a solution or if I need another bushing?

He already unhooked the sensor.....
For the most part these engines dont really leak oil... if Oil is missing, it wasnt there to begin with or youll know it as its being burned by the engine....

So fill with required amount, check occasionally... carry on...
